back on the Strowman contract, he was definitely the highest paid of those released and it really puts into perspective just how fukked up the business practices are when it comes to "independent contractor" wrestling contracts.
Strowman signed a 4-year, $4.8 million dollar contract less than two years ago. he announced it in July 2019 and it was confirmed by multiple sources. $1.2 million per year, guaranteed. which meant he was making well over that when you factor in merchandise and gate revenue.
Braun Strowman's New WWE Contract Reportedly Worth $1.2 Million Per Year - Wrestling Inc.
now here we are not even halfway thru the contract and WWE wants out without having to fulfill their end of the deal. it would be fine if WWE cut him now and agreed to continue paying the full amount of the contract that THEY agreed upon, but that's not the case. they're backing out on the deal and only paying him for another 90 days. leaving approximately 20 months of payments off of what they said they would pay.
that's unethical. that's bad business. do you think WWE would have allowed Strowman to back out of the deal if he received a better offer elsewhere? of course not.
