Lonzo Ball isn’t a playmaker?
I didn’t say the US didn’t have a playmaker. I said we don’t have that many in the program. On top of that, Lonzo doesn’t move well without the ball which os what separates someone like Curry from others.

Lonzo isn’t a scorer either. LaMelo is a better example to use and I hope he joins the program in the future.

AD is a top 3 big in the world and he’s American
Look at what you just typed. “AD is a top three big.” That’s one but we don’t have many more and he isn’t at the Olympics.
I don’t think U were on of the guys sayin this but I jus have to say, it’s funny how dudes were sayin CP3 could never see a championship because he looks to playmake too often and needs to be more of a scorer, now dudes are in the thread clamoring for a playmaker lol
You need someone that can get their own basket and create for others.

I disagree, AAU is pretty much the youth development system in America and that’s strictly for jus gettin U into college but that’s where it stops, AAU ball mimicks NBA ball more than anything and that’s why u see all these ball dominant 6’7 and taller prospects now

if these dudes stayed in college longer they’d have a far more refined skill set and knowledge of the game; there are a variety of systems and play types u come across in NCAA, AAU and NBA? Not so much
When I said drug dealers coaching premier talent, I was talking about AAU.

And you aren’t supposed to learn the basics of the game in college. That comes in youth development. College basketball coaches only care about winning college basketball games

IIRC, the NCAA limits practice time for basketball players to 20 hours a week. Luka Doncic at that age was training against pros for many more hours.
Yeah facts .

The best coaching in a lot of these dudes lives would’ve happened in college . Most of the best coaches are on that level. You’d be exposed to and actually learn how to play within an organized system . Instead of pick and roll ball over and over

The NBA isn’t coaching shyt in most situations
The problem is the best coaches are in college ball, and not at the younger ages. They don’t care about development because they are concerned about winning in college and collecting a huge bag for themselves. They also can’t dedicate the amount of hours needed to make up the difference because of ncaa rules.

This is the reason Trae didn't make the roster. Pop is a dumbass who wants to a movement based system with iso-gawds
SO ESSENTIALLY WE ARE LEFT WITH A BUNCH OF PLAYERS WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY BASKETBALL

42-33 USA still with 1:30 left in the half (edit: 45-37 at the half), don't think they realized shyt was about to go south.

Lack of bigs is a HUGE issue though. Gobert killing them inside and even that Fall guy is getting to the line.

How many games can team USA lose before they aren’t eligible for the gold medal game?

Their bracket is France, USA, Iran, and Czech Republic. They have to finish top-2 or be one of the best 3rd-place teams.

Assuming that Iran is food, they basically are in to the quarterfinals if they beat the Czechs. After that it's single elimination, one loss and they're out.

I think it’s partly the officiating. We lost the lead and momentum when Durant had to sit through a lot of the 3rd and 4th....when’s the last time he fouled out in the NBA? Probably hasn’t happened more than 5 times in his career. And you can see some of the others just aren’t comfortable when they aren’t getting the allstar treatment they’re used to.

Pop seems well past his prime, also. I don’t think younger players give a shyt about what he has to say.

The rest of the world caught up pal...

Giannis ..
Jokic..
Luka..

3 players right there, either top 5 players, or next season will be top 5 players. The games evolved, and the Americans haven't got better... Relying on just sheer athleticism and chucking 3's aint gonna get it done anymore

Officiating is definitely part of the issue, but that's not when they lost the lead.

I just found out the USA was up 74-67 with 3:40 left and then went 0-9 with 7 fouls in the final 3:40, got outscored 16-2 to end the game.
