I don't think so. The guys they are going after have jobs that are like exactly the same or similar to what the Mets are trying to hire them to do and they are all good at it. Why leave? I wouldn't leave my job for the same job somewhere else unless I was unhappy.

Theo is consulting for MLB and he left Chicago specifically for more time with his family. He may actually mean it and not want a demandong job.
And of you saw "Moneyball" the movie ends with Beane getting a huge offers from the Rest Sox and he turned it down. He wanted to prove he could win without a large payroll. Maybe he is still in that mode.
If people have something against Cohen, The Mets, NYC I can't see how that's a 'bad look' it's just the fact of the situation that can't be changed.
