Rodney Harrison: Bill Belichick re-signing Cam Newton would be ‘the worst decision he’s ever made’

“That’d be the worst decision he’s ever made,” said Harrison. “That would be the worst decision he ever made, because now you’re not being fair to your team. You’re not being fair to your team. When I saw what I saw with Cam… Every time I saw Cam play pretty much I was hurt because I was a guy that believed in Cam. And when you see him drop back and he continues to throw the ball into the ground — threw it five feet, threw it five yards above somebody else you’re like, ‘What are you doing, Cam?’”

“Trust me, we’re all fans, and we’re Patriots fans, but we are football fans,” he said. “We want to see these young men do well in their lives and in their livelihood. A lot of people were sitting back rooting for Cam, but I would say this: You have to find a quarterback, and it would be a terrible mistake for Bill Belichick to bring Cam back because Cam can’t play football anymore. He just can’t play quarterback in the National Football League.”

you have guys on the Pats that say they love Cam. he was a joy/great guy to play with.
but i honestly dont know if Cam's ego would allow himself to just bow out and not play football at all anymore

this year it became very obvious Cam body is not going to allow him to be up to standard as a passer in the league anymore

I mean, this is obvious but you aint gotta put my man on public display like that. Let him fade to black and get his backup journey on in peace :mjcry:

man RIP to Sam Mills,
but i would stop caring about the Hall of fame honestly if this kept happening to me. i understand wanting to be in that group, getting that gold jacket. it can really validate the player career but as the years go by....would just :yeshrug: and say "its just not meant to be"

This is the 19th time Sam Mills has been eligible, but only the second time the linebacker has been included among the 15 modern-day finalists.

If Mills doesn’t get in this year — and it will be an upset if he does — he will have his 20th and final chance at modern-era eligibility in 2022.
