I mean Trump has a 15 pt advantage on the economy. Meanwhile, 6 out of 10 Americans find him generally dishonest and has worsened the country's place in the world. I can understand why Biden wants to attack Trump's weakness and remind people how unacceptable it is to have a morally deprived pathological liar in the White House. I've been following politics a long time, it's still early for policy rollouts. What Warren is doing with policy is not normal.
Yeah it’s uncommon for policy rollouts this early, but the trend amongst his party base and the younger tech-savvy and politically cynical generations of voters in is toward wanting more robust policy details.

Even if we say Biden gets a pass for not having policy details yet cause it’s still early, he has a pretty lengthy shyt puddle of a policy record so that doesn’t serve him well.

I don’t get it. If Hillary tried “Trump is a piece of shyt, vote for me” and lost, why is the best candidate this time an older, more racist more conservative candidate with the same strategy?

Well he's a man, so he automatically has a built in advantage over Hillary. He also has a 25 pt advantage over Hillary in the likability department. He's from Pennsylvania, so he'll most likely flip that state. He's got a lot of loyalty/goodwill from the Obama coalition, hence his overwhelming support amongst AA's. I mean c'mon guys there's a reason Trump and his people are scared to death of a Biden ticket. I've already said he needs to adopt 2 or 3 of these big progressive policy agendas to satisfy that wing of the party (I don't think they are the "base" yet). Obama already called out Hillary for her vapid complacent campaign in Peter Baker's book, you think he's going to let Biden make the same mistakes?

Warrens policy rollouts are directed to primary voters not necessarily for general election purposes. She probably assumes, not incorrectly, that primary voters being more in tune to specific policies l, will be more appreciative of a candidate digging in the policy weeds.

Favorability is malleable. Hillary’s favorability used to be consistently in the 50’s up until a couple of years ago.

Hillary Clinton Favorability Timeline | Pew Research Center

I don’t expect Biden’s to stay that high through a brutal primary and general. Not after it gets put on front street for the average casual politics follower that he...

-Was a prime architect of the prison industrial complex and was one of the main people spearheading “tough on crime”/war on drugs legislation.

-Opposed busing integration.

-Voted to make it harder for average people to file bankruptcy while taking millions from the credit card industry.

-Voted for the Iraq War.

-Treated Anita Hill like shyt at a public hearing on Capital hill and refused to allow 2 more women to testify.

-Voted for NAFTA

-Said he has no empathy for young people

-Has a long history of saying racist and cringy racial shyt.

And a lot of that shyt is out of his own mouth on video.

Being good ol uncle Joe and riding Obama’s coattails is only gonna take you so far.

So Biden is basically running a Hillary 2.0 campaign. Talking about Donald Trump being immoral and returning morality and civility, coming together as a nation, blah, blah, blah, etc.

The same old “stronger together” bullshyt where Trump controls the narrative and you just react...and offer no policy proposals that excite people.

This is shaping up to be a horribly tone deaf and misguided campaign. He is gonna get that work in the primary.
None of this was the focus of her campaign. :mjlol:

I think it's great that people expect actual policy guidelines, hopefully it leads to politicians being held accountable, and a more informed public if possible....

We deserve better than buzz words and catch phrases.

Welcome back btw

Her strategy against Trump was Trump sucks, vote for me. Biden is coming out the gate with the same message.
This is half True.

The majority of her speeches focused on policy:

And only 20 percent of her ads attacked Trump on policy opposed to around 40 percent which tends to be the norm. Not that Trump actually had any real policy to attack. :russ:

She actually had great policy initiatives that were well to the left of Obama but no one liked her enough to be bothered to read them

I don't remember the campaign devolving to Trump is bad/sucks but I know a lot of people felt that way.

There was a lot of, well she stole this idea from Bernie.

She supported the crime bill so she can't support justice reform.

I think she's dishonest, so she's just saying this to get elected - - unlike Trump the straight shooter.

It's depressing how apathetic people were to Trump being elected. I'm positive the damage he's done will last the rest of my life. At least Hillary wasn't president though amirite.

Nearly everything you listed other than perhaps NAFTA are primary pitfalls. Let's be real, once it gets to a general election matchup between Biden vs Trump, we all know which side's going to be courting the racists and which side's going to have Obama/Michelle campaigning for them everywhere (let's also not forget he might get Harris or Abrams on the ticket as well). Trump cancels out Biden's suspect racial past every time he opens his mouth. The Iraq War vote rarely came up for Clinton during the general election, at least not as much as Benghazi. I don't think that's going to be a big issue in 2020.

But yeah, you bring up some legitimate issues for the primary. Let's see who on the left is going to step up and hold Biden accountable for all this dirt in his past. Part of the reason Hillary's favorability numbers stayed under water was because she had Bernie had her neck and the other side was calling for her to be locked up. I can't envision that type of vitriol being drummed up against Biden, I just can't. Even after Biden takes his licks in the primary, he's going to come out of it in a better position than Hillary did (favorability wise).
