Tulsi is a neocon, why else do you think she was considered for a Trump cabinet position.

She has a better shot as a Republican, but they already have her clone in Nikki Haley
Tulsi isn’t close to being a neocon. What neocon you know that supports universal healthcare, raining in police power, pro marijuana legalization, and has anti interventionist foreign policy. People say she hates Islam, but she supported the Iran Nuclear Deal, and is so anti war in Syria she is being criticized for it. She has criticized Netanyahu more than any other talked about candidate (although that is not saying much, and she is still pro Israel).

"In January, Sanders’s team reviewed the potential field with him, lingering on the possibility of Warren and Biden entering the race. (An October CNN survey showed Biden 20 points ahead of Sanders across the country, though other polls show a smaller margin.) Sanders made clear that he was also wary of Booker, whom he regards as a potent messenger."

:jbhmm:

That CNN poll was super flawed.

Beto O'Rourke narrowly tops wide-open MoveOn 2020 presidential straw poll; Biden runner up
The progressive group had backed Bernie Sanders in 2016 over Hillary Clinton.

An early straw poll of members of the progressive group MoveOn.org shows a wide-open competition for liberal voters in the forthcoming 2020 Democratic presidential contest, with Beto O'Rourke narrowly beating out Joe Biden.

The poll, obtained by NBC News, shows a plurality of respondents — 29 percent — either said they did not yet know whom they would support or wanted someone else not listed among the group's more than 30 potential candidate choices.

The most popular potential candidate was O’Rourke, D-Texas, who was selected by 15.6 percent of respondents, followed by Biden at 14.9 percent, and then Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt, with 13.1 percent.

It's another sign of O’Rourke's surprising popularity among national Democrats and a potentially troubling indication for Sanders, whom MoveOn endorsed in the 2016 Democratic primary. That year, 78 percent of MoveOn members voted to back Sanders over Hillary Clinton

The three men were followed by Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., who garnered 10 percent support, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., with 6.4 percent. Meanwhile, Sens. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., Cory Booker, D-N.J., and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg were each selected by about 3 percent of members.

"While the race for the 2020 Democratic nomination for president remains wide open and MoveOn's endorsement is up for grabs, MoveOn members and progressives across the country are clear: They're looking for candidates who will rally voters around a progressive vision of building a country where every American can thrive — whether we're white, black, or brown, rich or poor," said Ilya Sheyman, executive director of MoveOn Political Action.

"We'll be challenging prospective candidates to inspire us with big ideas in the months to come — including at a series of events in early voting states in early 2019," Sheyman added.

MoveOn, which was founded during Bill Clinton's presidency, is one of the largest progressive online organizing groups with millions of members across the country, so its endorsement has been coveted in the past.

This year, the group plans to hold a series of events in early presidential nominating states as part of its endorsement process, which is ultimately decided by a vote of its members.

Here are the top 10 finishers in the MoveOn straw poll:

Someone else/DK/other: 28.8 percent

Beto O’Rourke: 15.6 percent

Joe Biden: 14.9 percent

Bernie Sanders: 13.1 percent

Kamala Harris: 10 percent

Elizabeth Warren: 6.4 percent

Sherrod Brown: 2.9 percent

Amy Klobuchar: 2.8 percent

Michael Bloomberg: 2.7 percent

Cory Booker: 2.6 percent

WE? Ain’t you a trump supporter?

Is that what I said verbatim? :jbhmm:

Or is that he Coli DNC Cult Members refrain.

I prefer good INDEPENDENT-oriented candidates...
I like Tulsi Gabbard, Rand Paul, Cynthia McKinney....if I had my top choices.

In other words, candidates, that won't buckle under pressure to their political party if a policy is bad or unconstitutional.

A lot of what they are saying is ok but i wonder why people use 2008 as a baseline without taking into account that the US was facing an economic catastrophe, if one were conducting an empirical study the economic conditions then would be considered and important explanatory variable, instead it seems the predominant explanation about "middle America" is that they turned on Obama and the Dems based on perceived failures. It could just be that those voters were motivated by special circumstances in 08 that had all but disappeared in 2012 and that they would not be reliable Dem voters under normal circumstances.

Dems did well in rural areas in 2006 before the recession though

People who want Sanders are getting a little too worried about Beto. Nobody knows his policies like that on the national level. They just see a young, charismatic guy who raised money like Bernie did and had a similar young movement with large crowds.

When the primaries start and that contrast of policies shows he might end up looking like a better Martin O' Malley. If he's still ahead by then he's a real motherfukka and should get that push.
