:yeshrug:Titanic got best picture why can't Star Wars. It was one of the biggest movie events of all time.

I'd compare it more to Avatar. Titanic is more of a traditional prestige pic. Avatar got nominated on the strength of its box office (IMO) but also I'm sure because of the tech achievements and stretching the language of cinema. Star Wars just has the box office going for it but it's not doing one of those other things.

-I'll remember Mad Max longer than any of those other Best Picture noms. I'll take that over the Revenant any day of the week.
-435 actresses could have played Rachel McAdams's role in Spotligt. I forgot she was in it.
-I still don't understand how The Big Short was well directed. The 4th wall stuff was fine, but it was shaky as fukk and not all that impressive to me.
-Star Wars should have gotten a nom even though it has no shot at winning.

Lord of the Rings actually won Best Picture, I agree Star Wars should have got a nomination

Brehs do you realize how many other really good movies got left out?

Star Wars was popcorn fun. Titantic and Avatar literally changed how we saw shyt on the screen.

Thats not to say those are great movies either. But they were at least different and unique.

Those events were bigger deals for their time.

This is a tv show about the movies. There's 10 slots, how about recognize the movie that everyone went to see and enjoyed for the most part. You have the rest of the categories to award the movies no one saw. Even though it would have no chance of winning, why deny all those potential viewers a chance to root for the number one movie in the world?

The thing about Star Wars.... George said FU to the academy in 77 ... It will probably NEVER get a nomination for best picture ever ..
It all started when he started a movie with action and no credits... He got fined and quit the director's guild... He's been saying FU ever since.. but now other directors are doing the same thing (Bay, Nolan, etc.)

The good Dr. is making the point I was making but @double0 makes a good point as well for real. I guess they could've tossed it a bone for viewership but I feel like they're good and they don't need it.
