Just saw Room. Its really good..

not sure its Best Picture. I could possibly see a nom. But naw it wasn't better than Beasts of No Nation or Creed.

Nah it had far more depth to it than that breh.

That movie got a 98% on RT. So it's probably really good...

People were hyping the kid from Room over Attah from Beasts of No Nation. Both performances required different things. Attah should have had more hype imo. He maybe changed throughout one movie than anyone all year.
Def should've got a nod to me - he was outstanding

That's what he talked about in his article i posted (which you should definitely read) that their campaign for Creed sucked ass because they didn't know what they had on their hands as far as a prestige flick. He said that if they did the same campaign for Creed for the oscars that they did for the LA Film critics award (which Coogler won best director) then none of them would have even known about the movie. Devin can be hard to deal with at times but his insight is invaluable as far as the movie business and how it works and what's working or not working properly

Lemme get this straight...

-No nomination for Coogler, MBJ, Covinngton (Screenplay with Coogler), or the movie in general....but one for Stallone.:mjpls:

-No nomination for Idris, Attah or Beast of No Nation.:mjpls:

-No nomination for SOC or even F. Gary Gray...but for the damn screenwriters:mjpls:

-No nomination for either of the three even though only 8 out of a potential 10 movies got nominated for best picture.:martin:

The Oscars can sincerely get all the way the fukk outta here with that blatant bullshyt. fukk em. :camby:

I hope all three of those high-quality movies, as well as the people involved in it, get their just due in other award shows.

Inarritu bit Malick's style hard when he made The Revenant. Even got a whispery voice over in the beginning of the film :wow:

Just finished it. 3.5/5 overall. Really enjoyed it.

This movie was basically Inarritu channeling Terrence Malick. Nothing wrong with another director having a strong influence on your work, but it was kind of distracting to me.

I guess I'm the only one who doesnt see how SOC or Creed were snubbed. I dont see how either was Oscar worthy. But then again neither was Spotlight or Fury Road. This was just a very weak year.

I'd only argue that Beasts of No Nation was definitely snubbed for best picture. And Abraham Attah was definitely snubbed for best actor. That kid was excellent. And if Mark Ruffalo and Sylvester Stallone(and I thought he did great) can get in for their roles then Idris definitely got snubbed for supporting actor.

THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS! :damn:

You can't even claim netflix hate because two 'Flix documentaries are nominated.

Beast of No Nation was snubbed because of Hollywood's beef with NETFLIX for simultaneously put it on their streaming site and in theaters. Therefore, Netflix didn't campaign to get it put into consideration.

Most of the snubs are due to the studios not vouching for those films or actors or directors.

Creed has. compton is up for a few awards including a SAG and the AFI crowned it film of the year. But Coogler and Jordan both have hardware for the mantle

Hell yeah the Oscars are racist as shyt. I not sure why we come here and make excuses for them each year.

I knew that when 12 years a slave won best picture, and ol'girl won for best supporting actress. The Academy is not going to nominate another film with a predominately black cast for a least another 10 years.

They were like with got our quota for the decade filled.

Read Devin's article. Not saying he disagrees with you but just read the article because it's more insight from someone in the industry. Plus it's just a really good read.

Yes, You Should Be Mad About The Oscars

Yep. I thought it was Terrence Malick the whole time until the credits popped up. I was shocked.
After seeing parts of the trailer and finally the movie, Alejandro and Emmanuel definitely sharked him.

Do people really want the Academy to include a "black movie" (or director/actor) just for the sake of inclusion? You care about the validation from a bunch of 60 year old white guys that much? Sure, you could have had your Creed nom, or your SOC nom, or your Beasts nom, and then what you'd have? A pitiful non-important nomination nobody gives a fukk about? You complain about the obvious racism of this as if it there isn't a great thing that those fools blatantly exposing themselves and their agenda two years in a row?

Creed, SOC and Beasts were good movies when you saw them, and they still are good movies now, and no silly snub by a bunch of conservative out-of-touch fools can change that. fukk all these politics and shytty awards, the only validation a movie needs to be considered great is your own opinion. Well, technically my opinion, but I'ma let you guys cook.

I haven't seen Creed but it a damn shame a reboot "Rocky" movie doesn't have nom for best song or score.
