Robert Upshaw seemed to put up some amazing stats in his limited time in college, if the ‘off-court’ distractions weren’t present is he top 5? or even top 3?

I mean this genuinely… this is like saying that guy could be the president if he didn’t shoot someone.

The stuff I have heard about Robert Upshaw is stunning… I have openly said to executives “are you **** me?” when they talk about what they are finding out about him.

I don’t think you can call a serious substance abuse problem an ‘off-court’ distraction – there are thing you couldn’t believe are true going on this. I hope Robert gets his life turned around. He seemed like a nice kid at the Combine and there is no doubting he’s talented but you can’t remove the flag and say wouldn’t he be great, the flag is absolutely why he’s not.

On YouTube posts and other public forums I've been researching him. Guys comment about how the guy tutored one of them for instance then with the money went and bought drugs. Another guy said in a party he freebased a huge volume of weed, coke and mushrooms all in one shot.

As much I think he's a good prospect and a steal I think it's too many problems and taking away from someone else who deserves the chance. On top of that he's not in game shape while others are in phenomenal shape right now. Towns is world's apart from him right now.
So with the drug issues and out of shape issues. I don't think he'll have the work ethic. But he's a great talent. I wouldn't first round him though and give him a guaranteed contract. He'll look at it as a four year pass

Wow wcw is a lot better offensively than I thought he'd be. After watching this dx video. I realise he's not tyson chandler 2.0 cause he can shoot. I think he can make your team an elite defensive team. If I were the knicks he'd be in serious contention. I like him and I think justise Winslow has a good relation with the knicks too.

as I scan the top ten or fifteen some of these players who are good will fall because the organisations have players commited to already playing their position. Also some of those guys in those slots are not looking for any more projects. I think people semi tanked for okafor and towns only. So now there in a position where they feel they weren't truly lotto picks and need immediate help to not be that next season.

So what's the deal brehs looking back over the past few years of drafts not all of these guys even top 10 picks become productive if you were a team trying to win now wouldn't you be better served trading the pick for a younger established player? Because unless you make the right pick an established guy will always Be better.

You kinda answered your own question. If you're trying to win now, wouldn't you be better served keeping the younger established player?

Lottery teams are almost never "one player away"(only one I can think of is the Celtics dealing 5/Jeff Green for Ray Allen) so the potential of a top 10 pick outweighs what could be had at this present time. You don't make those kind of trades if that one player doesn't put you over the top. That's how you end up trading 15/Kawhi Leonard for George Hill.

Wtfs wrong with you. Why are you saying stop?
I said he's a lot better than I thought he is. He's been on my radar for years since he didn't come out as a freshman. And I've dismissed him only to see he's comparatively a better shooter than I thought. Next time offer something better than stop thinking you're so smart

I don't think the Tyson Chandler comparison is accurate, he is better offensively.

He really is. I can't lie I underestimated him because if his role on these stacked teams. When you watch him shoot compared to bobby portis who's supposedly a stretch four, wcw is the better shooter from mid range

But wouldn't a team like the Jazz or Hornets for example be better off trading for a Ty Lawson or Kyle Lowery type the draft game is hard you are more likely to miss than hit....But I couldn't imagine a team like the 76ers trading for established talent only a few select teams...The Suns are another and the Thunder.
