Max B went platinum in the streets :mjcry:

:mjlol: the streets don't respect quality. The underground goes, but the streets stopped giving a damn about quality since the mid 00s. It's all hype and ignorance.

Besides, Cole is only going up from here.

he reached platinum in 3 and a half months. No hype. No singles. No features. No gimmicks.

I bet you that a lot of these fast food rappers are like :wow: @ his feat.

J. Cole grabbed the college kids when I was in college and high school kids came later. Now he's one of the three most popular rappers for people in the late teens to late 20s range. And we actually buy shyt if we fukk with it. It's really that simple. FNL won over everyone. I didn't even like his debut and I copped this album off principle.
Was a sophomore in undergrad when The Come Up dropped, new grad with The Warm Up, second year of law school with FNL.

People made fun of him for talking about college shyt, but when you're in college, that shyt connects :manny:

Build a fan base that'll actually go out and support
???

You want a way to please the streets? Make a mixtape full of bangers talking about how you fukked someone else's girl, sold white on the block and how much money you got, toss a bunch of ad-libs in your shyt, slur your words, and add a ton of gunshot sound effects in the beginning of every song, cause that's what real nikkas do. I mean sure, you don't got that much album sales cause the streets don't buy albums... but look at your DatPiff downloads, nikka! You're sure to be eating off of those free download numbers! :krs:

See. This is why those rappers who make shyt for the streets are still in the streets, lol. All flash and no substance. It's great if your music connects with the streets, but if you make it specifically for them... you'll suffer as an artist, cause they only want a certain type of shyt and nothing else. Fan bases > Streets.

Sound like Meek Mill in a heartbeat.

But seriously, I was on the verge of being a strictly old school Hip Hop fan after a few years of the one hit wonders taking over in the era of 05 to 2009. Then Cole came in and provided hope for the next generation. From there, he did his own thing when cats were caught up with Drake, Rick Ross, Meek Mill and so on. He did it the tried and true way that the greats before him did and now he is eating better than most :blessed: .She showed yall the eat, but if they still content on how things trends are for the past decade or so, then leech on them.

He did it for the regular brehs :to:
