Here's how a 16 team playoff would look now:
1. Notre Dame
16. Nebraska
8. LSU
9. Texas A&M
5. Kansas State
12. Florida State
4. Oregon
13. Oregon State
2. Alabama
15. Northern Illinois
7. Georgia
10. South Carolina
6. Stanford
11. Oklahoma
3. Florida
14. Clemson
To see all of that play out would be amazing. I would be so happy for the next month and a half.
It would work itself out because you basically have 2 miniature division runner-up games (LSU/A&M, UGA/SCar), then you have the Oregon teams duking it out.
And the SEC domination would work itself out in the "red" bracket anyway.
I have said from the jump we should have a 16 team playoff. We would still have to include the Big East (Louisville), and Big 10 (Wisconsin). I could do without Wisconsin with 5 losses though. That would leave:
(1) Notre Dame- (16) Wisconsin/Louisville
(8) Georgia- (9) Texas A&M (to avoid LSU-TA&M 1st rd. rematch)
(5) Oregon- (12) Florida St.
(4) Kansas St.- (13) Oregon St. (to avoid Ore./Ore. St rematch) (KSU gets higher # due to being conference champ)
(2) Alabama- (15) N. Illinois/ Louisville
(7) Georgia- (10) Oklahoma
(6) Stanford- (11) S. Carolina
(3) Florida- (14) Clemson
Would be much better. Dont like how they are killing N. Illinois on ESPN for doing what they needed to do, while 8-5 Wisconsin skates by because Ohio St and Penn St were ineligible.
