Targets: Hinrich, who made $8 million last season, would have to sign for a serious hometown discount to return. He has been linked to returning ever since the Bulls traded him to the Wizards to clear more salary-cap space for the 2010 pursuit of James, Wade and Bosh. He told the Tribune in March he planned to explore all options but would be open to returning.
The Bulls also have done background on West and restricted free agent Brandon Rush, league sources said. They also planned to monitor Roy's attempt to come back from chronic knee injuries that forced the Trail Blazers to use their amnesty provision on the two-time All-Star before last season. Yahoo Sports reported the Bulls are one of five finalists for Roy's services, although Rose's injury and desire to sign mostly veteran minimum deals could affect their pursuit. The Bulls also were in discussions to re-sign John Lucas III for a veteran's minimum, sources said.
