I remember as a kid walking through unfinished houses all the time, with adults. They're building a house down the street, you go walk through it.
His aunt saw the video and confirmed it was him, but replied to the local police he didn't steal anything.

This will be spun by some as some sort of justification, but all this video does is show that no illegal activity was committed in that construction area. This should not help the defense at all.
At the end of the day, if those guys thought there was a burglary, call the police. Don't go out and hunt someone down.
my parents are into real estate and do it often as well...houses that are for sale...houses under construction etc.
normal ppl or neighbors genuinely curious about their presence will even approach them and my folks would talk to them in kind to get a feel for the neighborhood etc.
