HhH was supposed to be some kind of rich big nose ladies man with all those valets:mjlol: chyna saved his career and set it off
She was the draw that put eyes on him
He always bytches about his little punishment but he was in the intercontinental scene pretty quick
Being boring until chyna and foley saved him

:mjlol: I wish I could find a video of that match when he was facing some jobber on WWF Superstars and Mr. Perfect got on a live mic and was :troll: him throughout the match (getting under his skin :lolbron:) AND took his bytch. :laff:

He was never buried for the curtain call. He just uses that as an excuse for being squashed by the Warrior at Wrestlemania and Austin winning KOTR. Austin was already clicking with the audience and no one cared for HHH. Even Vince McMahon didn't see much in him. He only has a career cause Vince Russo liked him.

i agree that it was underrated.

it was just a distant 3rd to WCW & ECW.

I was cool with 96 WWF. The problem is, they were too far behind WCW & ECW, so it came off lite in real-time.

Sorta like middle of the road albums in the golden eras that are classics in retrospect. The bar was just too high at the time.

Correct. 1996 was the foundation of the Attitude era, especially come Survivor Series 96. A lot of guys ended up being in a much better and more significant position by the time 1997 hit. Farooq went from Gladiator to Nation member, Shamrock was heavily featured, DX on the rise with HBK and HHH, the Outlaws would get together and ascend, Bret would become a major heel, Mankind would go from psycho heel to endearing face, Rocky Maivia switching to The Rock, etc.
