-Taker's character had life breathed into it after fueding with the Million Dollar Corproation for what felt like years. He felt less cartoonish and in Mankind he had an actual interesting antagonist.

I HATED how Mankind would ALWAYS show up and torment Taker while he was busy dealing with Goldust's fukkery. :pacspit:

When they finally faced each other at the '96 King Of The Ring, I wanted Taker to give him that work for all of his annoying-ass meddling. :birdman:

but Paul Bearer's interference backfired and cost Taker the match, which set the foundation for Paul turning on him later that summer. :mjcry:

-Assorted Goldust fukkery

:dame: at him giving Ahmed mouth-to-mouth after Owen knocked him out with his cast

 Ahmed went HAM in the back when he was revived. :birdman:

I will concede there was some absolute trash that year too:

-TL Hopper & The Goon :francis:

:scust: those Summer '96 WWF jobbers

Remember "Who" (Jim The Anvil Neidhart wearing a yellow mask, trunks, and boots)?!!

currently watching all of the 96 raws & ppvs...i wish the network had all the other shows that aired during that year...

so much fire...some of it i remember but a lot i didnt see just from being a kid at the time and not watching every week or seeing ppvs...

so ill seeing how the crowd gave 0 fukks about Triple H and Stone Cold.....Ultimate Warrior was over as fukk...Vader and Goldust were doing some real Attitude Era type shyt in the middle of all of that...

plus all the 95 trash gimmicks still lingering....you'd randomly still see Duke The Dumpster Droese in a match...and the trash ass Body Donnas/Smokin Gunns

HBK was mega over at this time...he couldnt do any wrong :wow:

96 was the foundation of the Attitude era. The seeds were planted in 96 and kicked off in 97. Very underrated period

Austin still not over on RAW the night after King of the Ring

And they got him facing The Undertaker :picard:
Yeah don’t know why people tried to paint him as being an overnight success after that KOTR promo.

You know what he doing for Summerslam that year? :shaq:

They booked him on free for all against Yokozuna :mjlol::picard:

He was over at that time, but back then the cheap pop was not the indicator of who was over
i am watching every show of the year thats on the network and he was not over at all...his matches had the crowd dead...the most reactions i saw him get leading up to KOTR 96 was his semi finals match....even in the Jake The Snake match there wasnt a huge change in the crowd....that promo got him a huge pop but they didnt even give him an entrance the next night on raw :pachaha: he was just on screen with the bubble lip already in the corner...

now im curious to when his music changed because he still got that bullshyt Ringmaster theme at this point im at...

I think when he started calling Bret Hart out of that Hiatus("You put the S in front of Hitman and you got my exact thought of Him")is when Austin was Heating up
