I just got a Wales Bonner polo a few weeks ago ...it references Jacob Lawrence, another black artist

Several problems here:

1) Why support 'luxury brands' at all. Most of us have low paying jobs and can barely pay the rent. Some of us have low financial literacy and have racked up insurmountable debt. The last thing we should be doing is engaging in mindless consumerism.

2) Blindly supporting a business that's black owned doesn't do anything. We know nothing about the black CEO except they're black. Who is s/he? Where is his/her mind at? Are they investing in the black community?

If cacs ain't buying it then nikkas don't want it. Massa's ice is colder

We live in an ethno-classicist society where anything that is white adjacent is viewed as more exclusive and higher on the pecking order whereas anything that is black adjacent is viewed as common and lower on the pecking order.
