I know it's easy to call Butler a coward on the internet, especially when like me you've never even been in the ring. But Man, once you've signed that contract you have to fight to win. I don't care if you're outmatched. It's your job, people have paid for a fight. If you get whooped early on and just do damage control in the late rounds I'll give you a pass, but you can't be in survival mode from round 1 :mjlol: That's just disrespecting the sport.
Nah. They may have had a gameplan that didn’t come off because Inoue is levels above?

Butler team would have wanted to get more counters and flurries on the board, but Inoue proved a level above them, from an output perspective and a power perspective.

solid guard my ass...he made himself a punching bag..he didnt win one minute of that fight and it went to 11 :hhh:

man made a business decision....he will go back to fighting on those saudi probellum cards that stream from their website
Don’t agree.

He made a life/survival decision and a game plan that didn’t work out because Inoue is a dog. Easy to say he was a punching bag when every other Inoue opponent that he fought got their lives re routed after opening up.

Punches come out faster in the ring than how it looks on tv. Butler found out the hard way, add the power and the improved defense :wow: Butler had his confidence all sapped away. Mental toughness plays a huge part in boxing and can see in Butler's face that he lost confidence in himself due to Naoya's superiority

Yeah I aint gon jump out the window and say dude a coward or anything but he didn't fight to win. USUALLY at the world champ level ur opp aint that many levels above you but after about a minute he realize this isn't what he wants lol Inoue just a monster :yeshrug:

I've only sparred hard but even then fukking with someone levels above you will have you ready to never go back to the gym :mjlol: can't imagine that feeling when you a champion yourself.

Underrated statements. Inoue has added head pull, head off the line defence to his repertoire now. This would have been demoralising for Butler, nothing worse than punching air on your return of fire.

Additionally, Butlers corner had clearly made strong instruction to steer clear of open exchanges and the possibility of counters wherever possible. They trained for this too. His guard was on point all fight.

Who knows, they probably had a half cocked plan to try and counter in the latter stages of the fight when Inoue was tired, lacks and unaware, he was certainly hittable.

But all that shyt is a plan and a pipe dream, and a pretty low percentage victory chance. But, you survive without a heavy, head knockout. So it is what it is. You can't be mad at it.

Contrary to others on here, I thought Butler did fine.

Remember that Inoue is the guy that slept Donnaire last fight, the same Donnaire that tried the opposite to what Butler did in this fight.

Easy to say open up when everyone that has opened up to Inoue has been massacred. Arm chair shyt.

Solid guard from Butler considering. Just couldn’t hang with a killer.

Donaire though went 12 with monster at an advance age and inflicted some fairly serious injuries in fight number 1 so when he got bodied in fight 2, his respect and rep is intact. Esp since they both decided to wear puncher's gloves without a moment of hesitation in the rematch

butler basically jobbed his title giving minimum effort...he didnt come to fight..and this is a guy that ive seen get into wars before...offense was anemic and his shelling up didnt win him one clear round...he didnt want to hang with a killer

Exactly

I really believe the Nonito from 2008-2012 smokes Monster & there's no way in hell he lets him off the hook when he hurts him

That all makes sense.

Nonito Donaire is Nonito Donaire though. His last with Inoue he banged out from the jump, highly entertaining, but got bodied in a blink.

Butler camp saw this, Butler camp also saw Maloney fight, they put two and two together and went conservative. Butler gonna get bodied quick if he runs the fade. Instead, let’s cover up and try and counter at the right times. It didn’t work at all.

But hindsight is a bytch, to quote the great Anne Wolfe ‘If if ends and buts were candy, cherries and nuts, then we’d all have a merry Xmas’ .
