Your work performance is never guaranteed...you could also get hit by a car tomorrow and not be able to go to work for months.
Kobe will be fine and if he leaves, whether the Lakers are winning a ring or not, Staples Center is going to be emptier without him (unless they get a star player like LeBron)...and from a management perspective, if they're selling tickets and making money, they're good. Look at what happened with LeBron...Cavs fans came out to see him...the games were sold out, etc. so they never felt that they needed to spend additional money to get LeBron any kind of support. We might lose a few bandwagon fans, but we probably lost them already (since we haven't been playing all that well the last few years).
They should have waited, I can agree with this...but he has earned his money though.
Yes he has. Have you not seen him play the last few years? He carried this team. Jim Buss is an idiot who made stupid coaching decisions...hiring the two Mikes...and not to just blame the coach, up until this year, our bench was TRASH. Pau wasn't playing all that well (especially last season...MDA was utilizing his talent in the worst possible way) and Dwight wasn't 100% from his back injury either (and when he was healthy, he wasn't giving 100%), Nash has old legs and was injured several times last season + Ron Artest was injured. We have some younger legs now, better off the bench, playing more as a team...I mean...I can't predict what will happen to the team's dynamic when Kobe returns...everyone will have to adjust, but he has definitely earned his money.@ the bolded words. L.A. thought the same way; as a result, they tarnished their future.
Kobe earned the money from the previous contracts; however, he has not proven himself worthy of the 48.5 million dollars that the Lakers wasted on him.
these white boys legit mad that Kobe getting what he's worth(unarguably less actually). shyt has me feeling some kinda way with this hidden 'cism.
exactly. I respect Kobe for getting his worth. Taking a pay cut is cheating yourself and the new CBA, especially if you can still play up to your $$ worth. There is no way LeBron should be making less than 20 mil this season.kobe had one of his best seasons last year and has been holding down the team his whole career
he deserves da money
and its nice to see a organization show a lil respect for once
bron can do that. Lets not act like he wont be richer then kobe when its said in done. He is the biggest brand since jordanand

Kobe made more money last year according to Forbes and is MUCH bigger globally. LeBron may be getting pushed as the next Jordan in the states now that Kobe is older. However, globally LeBron ain't seeing Kobe. And in China, which is already rivaling the US economy and will be the #1 world power in the next 20 years, Kobe is a GOD. I wouldn't be surprised if Kobe went to China after he retires and makes more money that Jordan over there. His brand is globally the most powerful. And given the fact that China is becoming so powerful, that is what will ultimately keep him ahead.
The deal also kills the Lakers' dreamy goals of bringing two max-level stars to team with Bryant this summer. The Lakers could have, at most, about $21.5 million in cap space this summer if they retain Steve Nash's full salary. And even that figure assumes the following:
• L.A. renounces its rights to Pau Gasol, and does not re-sign him;
• The Lakers pick around no. 14 or no. 15 in the draft;
• The Lakers sign zero other players before luring Star Player X in free agency, so that the empty remaining roster spots carry minimum charges of only about $500,000 each.
And even in this scenario, the Lakers could not fit the maximum salary of, say, Carmelo Anthony. Using the stretch provision on Nash could open up about $6 million of cap space, allowing the Lakers to sign that max-level player — and little else. Los Angeles floundered in 2012-13 with Bryant, Gasol, Nash, Dwight Howard, and a bench of minimum-salaried retreads. How do you think they would fare in the ultra-competitive Western Conference in 2014-15 with Bryant, Anthony, Nash (or not), and a bench of minimal-level retreads? They may be better off bringing back Gasol at $10 million or so over two seasons (if he'd take such a deal), finding a couple of other solid mid-priced guys on short-term deals, and seeing how things go from there.
are you stupid? Lebron is the biggest brand since jordan. Its speculated that bron would have made close to a billion dollars if he joined the knicks. Dont act dumb everyone know that bron is worth more than kobeKobe made more money last year according to Forbes and is MUCH bigger globally.
