Alright so that was an excellent fight. I had it 5-4 Crawford going to the 10th. I didnt like the ending at all but Bud would have won this one anyway. Answered all questions he was asked
It was a typical Porter fight which shows that Porter kinda dictates how a fight goes no matter his opponent. Same as the Spence fight, I was alternating rounds until the top dog clearly took advantage. Lunging like that against a good counter-artist, there was only so long it could have lasted.
Crawford might as well be a southpaw, I cant really remember a fight of his where he stayed orthodox or switched between stance frequently. It's obvious, he's right eye dominant with how quick he fires his check hook and pivot out. His counter uppercut to the body is also beautiful and fast as well. Only thing I would have liked is for him to jab more but otherwise, he fought well last night.
Also, I liked that before that 10th, he was in his corner and somebody probably told him he was behind so he turned it up and went for the finish. Dude is lethal when it comes to that but I do think Kenny did his son wrong.
Porter always get back up frustrated or bewildered. Kenny should have allowed him to continue because Shawn was not compromised nor wobbly. I never liked their relationship anyway as it always seem that Kenny is all in the videos.
Shawn should have created more separation with his dad and it really seemed to me that that call was partly him asserting his dominance on his son. Like the interview was scust how you're gonna lil boy your grown son like that "My son lives across the street, we're gonna have lunch tomorrow, it's ok" .
Kenny obviously raised a good son but to me they've been too "close" and the fact they live in houses across the street confirms it to me. If I'm Porter, I'm moving asap and tell dude to respect my boundaries.
Kenny reminds me of fathers in tennis that are all over their daughter life so they can live their success through them.
Last couple of things :
- Bud's logo is absolutely atrocious. Fire the designer
- Bud leaving TR is an excellent news. I feel the top fighters should have went the free agent route long ago. Just negociating on a fight by fight basis which promotion they want to fight with. Canelo is proving how great it's working
- Ward was rooting for Porter hard. It's not the first time, his (excellent) commentary is tainted like that. He's a good announcer but he should learn to hide his bias better
- We really need to have Spence-Bud next year.
