It’s his promoters fault - Bob Arum. He’s spread too thin and hasn’t secured top fights for a fighter of his caliber.
He should have gotten big fights - but no one wants to fight him because he’s a legitimate threat. Why would anyone of championship caliber be willing to risk it over fighting a legit contender. Strike one.
His promoter isn’t doing all he can to negotiate on behalf of his fighter and has under-promoting him for years. Strike two.
According to the actions at Top Rank - black fighters aren’t “marketable” so they’d rather focus on more high value fighters that can bring in a “larger audience.” Strike three.
