they couldve cut the main event in half and it wouldve been perfect. I can do without the mouse trap board and barbedwire webbing i thought they were stupid and too contrived. that table bump was crazy, and ending was cool, that 360 facefirst into the wood was stupid,

The mouse trap board was stupid as fukk. I think without it the spiderweb wouldn't have seemed such a shark jump... one prop too many, but the mousetraps were just stupid but I reckon the spiderweb was kind of a missed opportunity.

The commentary totally failed at their part in the storytelling for the whole match (show)... they should've been selling Omega being dragged into the dark side through the feud with Moxley, losing his mind and descending to Moxley's level way ahead of Kenny 'snapping' and calling for the spiderweb - which the commentators should've had SOME kind of history for, even if it was fukking made up - "Bahgawd, I heard whispered legends of a barbed wire spiderweb that was used to settle blood feuds in the illegal death match circuit in Japan... what dark recesses of Omega's mind has Moxley driven him into?!"

JR still reacts well, but he can't narrate for shyt right now.:francis:

Main event is easier on a rewatch knowing the glass was sugar glass and that the sea of barbed wire was already cut. I'll still stand by not liking deathmatches or this match on first watch.

The MJF turn also felt way too soon.

And its CLEAR AS DAY that the Lucha Bros should be the tag champs rn. SCU are nowhere near as over as they are.

There's money in the chase. Neither champ now is the most over guy in the company. This goes back to the old school ideal of "hot shotting" a territory. If you start with what everyone wants there's nowhere to go. Kenny/Cody and Bucks/Lucha Bros are more than likely the two programs that headline what we can probably assume will be their "big" show next summer, the anniv of All In/Double or Nothing. But in the mean time as you build to it, you use the most over guys to try and elevate some of the lesser acts so they have other people to make feud and make money with.

Money in the chase? SCU not chasing shyt :dwillhuh:

Them chasing The Lucha Bros for months and then beating them decisively for the titles would have done more for them and the titles than a fluke win will.

SCU beating the Lucha Bros was like SCAR beating UGA.

I haven't seen it mentioned the last few pages, but JR was fukkin awful, like more than usual. Did this dude just get diagnosed with dementia because he was lost a lot. I know everyone gives him shyt, but I've been fine with his work the last few years. But during Full Gear...
He sounded drunk through a good portion of it. He needs to be out of the booth. But people still cape for him because they grew up hearing him.

You got it backwards. Lucha Bros winning the titles later is a better draw than SCU winning the titles later, and it gives LB something to do rather than starting at the top. They're the most over tag team, if you start with them on top you have nowhere to go, other than the Bucks or hoping LAX really gets over on that level. The "chase" is Lucha Bros. You give SCU the early rub with the over act and the belts.

42 year old Kazarian and even older Daniels aren't the future, but they're an over act so you get out of them now what you can. The best case scenario here is LB have something to do for a little while, while not being on top yet, and you can use this whole program to get Scorpio Sky over for his inevitable singles run. He's not a young guy himself but obviously has WAY more in the tank than either of his teammates and is basically a brand new face for a national audience.

No one wants to see LB beat SCU all the time because there's no real intrigue in SCU matchups beyond this little story they got going as underdogs that pulled something off. They're older guys and no one is going to but them for too long, so what's the point in making them the long build? Build to what? Tell the quick story of Sky being better than his current station, keep Lucha Bros hot but occupied in a matchup that isn't one of the obvious marquee ones. There's something in LB losing to SCU off of sheer miracles before finally snuffing that shyt out once and for all.

When that happens you get the big pop and immediately everyone starts fantasy booking "LUCHA BROS V LAX OMG LUCHA BROS V BUCKS", and now hopefully by that time the Bucks and/or LAX have workeda program with another team (Private Party or Jack/Angelico or whatever) and they're hot enough now to carry a program.

Opening a territory is all about mitigating your big matchups, getting the most out of your old names as quickly as possible before the fatigue sets in or they're washed, and spreading the name value around the roster to elevate the guys who are gonna be the foundation going forward.

One thing AEW is definitely doing well is how they've positioned their "stars" up and down the roster off the rip and working even programs with the less familiar names. This is really building guys by the book. The point of SCU/LB isn't SCU, it's getting over Scorpio Sky while SCU. SCU probably gonna be a fun/comedy lower card act after he leaves, while he moves onto major singles programs.

After this program is done, you should want to see Sky work with the good singles guys and LB against the best tag teams. That's mission accomplished.

@Scottie Drippin Lucha Bros are the most popular over tag team in AEW. They are also heels.

The money has never been in a heel chasing. It’s in the babyface chasing, losing, and then finally overcoming the obstacles. Like LSU just did.

When someone wins a title the reaction should never be :ld:, But that’s exactly what it was when SCU won the tag titles. I’ve been watching SCU for years now and at no point in any of their previous tag titles reigns have they ever been as good or as over as The Lucha Bros, Young Bucks, Briscoes, ReDragon, etc.

They are a solid tag team that you want in your division, They aren’t the team that you build your tag division around. All they’re doing is making the belts mean less.

It's 2019. Call Lucha Bros heels all we want, people want to see them win and cheer them. They'll get booed for like a second for attacking someone or something then people will be screaming that CM with them next week.

Also, they are not building the division around SCU. In a few months, with the way they've been doing things, I think you can expect to see Scorpio as a singles wrestler and SCU down the card. They are 100% building the tag division around Lucha Bros, Bucks, LAX and then a level below Private Party and Best Friends. Just to open the territory they're getting out of SCU whatever they can and again, just mitigating the big matchups.
S
ain't the future so you just use them to tell a story while you can and keep the big matchups fresh.

Sound like you playing fantasy booker breh. We have no idea what will happen in the next few months. The tag team champions are who the tag division revolves around, and that’s SCU.

It was a bad decision that happened :manny:

The tag division revolves around the Young Bucks. Their match got announced first, promoted significantly more, got significantly more time than the tag titles match that was set up on the go home show and was almost half as long as the Bucks/LAX match despite being a triple threat and for the titles.

It doesn’t, They are key players no doubt. But the bucks & cody seem aware enough to not book themselves on top.

Kind of wonder what they did with buys since Meltzer hasn't said anything yet & he was already talking about that like a day after DON :jbhmm:
