I give JR a pass cause dude hasn’t (understandly) been the same in booth since his wife passed a while back. You could tell during the PPV that Tony is the glue that holds the booth together.
Lawler is prob the only other person who can get something out of JR at this point in his career cause of their chemistry and longevity with each other and he’s in the E so that’s out. I’m not sure what Khan can do about it other than having Taz on standby until Football season is over or throwing a bag at Tenay to put a headset back on

JR was bad long before his wife died and with Lawler. Actually I think he's been better with AEW than he has been since probably 2003, but his heart obviously isn't very into it and he doesn't understand/like the way guys work today. His constant annoyance with the refs is just such a grumpy shyt thing to do. He made a tweet or post about how the job gives him a purpose and something to do, much like retirees who take on part time jobs or volunteer just to have shyt to do. I think that's how he sees it and treats it as such. I think his weirdest quirk these days is how often he responds to himself despite there being one or two other people to play off of.
But please no heel/face announcer shyt. It's been done to death. Just a straight commentary team is all that is needed.

I have already stopped following the weekly show but watched this for Cody/Jericho and Omega/Moxley. Cody might exaggerate from his entrance to his importance but he sure as hell understands how storytelling works. Of course with flabby Jericho it's not like this ever could've turned into a great match but it was a good match still. The ending with the towel fit the narrative, but as many have noted it feels way too soon to pull the trigger on the MJF turn.
Omega/Moxley was just a stupid spot fest. I get that's what most hardcore matches are but both men could do better than this nonsense. Someone else mentioned it in this thread but Lucha Underground pulled off hardcore matches with storytelling and psychology, it shouldn't feel so impossible.

This scrum with Page, he addresses that due to only having so much time a month, they won’t be doing the “monthly PPV” deals for now (8hrs aint enough for true story building). The next PPV probably won’t be for another 2-3 months.
