[11/09/19] AEW Full Gear (Cody vs Jericho / Omega vs Moxley)

Brief thoughts:

Overall PPV was ok, probably 6 out of 10.
-Rhio is boring, just too plain for me. She’s alright in the ring, but I have no desire to watch her wrestle. Needs a strong opponent, and Freddy Mercury lady wasn’t it.
-Bucks are doing good, losing to build up the teams that need it. Too many funny spots in a match that had the Bucks out for revenge for P&P taking out R&R Express on Dynamite. Good match though.
-Definitely rushed the MJF turn. Everyone knew it was coming, but they could have waited until closer to Double or Nothing 2. Something like MJF turns on Cody because he never got a title match despite being Cody’s BFF. Something like that.
-The lights out match far exceeding what I thought they were going to do. I thought they were just going to come out and jeans and a t-shirt and have a street match. Didn’t think they were going to have an almost death match. My biggest issue is that matches like these, and HIAC, needs to be the culmination of a long heated rivalry. It should never be the first match. Since I’ve seen some of Kenny’s stuff in New Japan, I know he can go. A couple of my co-workers, who never seen him before AEW, think he’s Dolph Ziggler status, just a good worker. AEW needs to start building him up or he’ll end up Midcard status to the casuals.
-what is Jimmy Havoc, Darby Allen, and Joey Janela going to do now that the Main Eventers stole their hardcore match style from them

Omega/Ambrose wasn't my cup of tea. Ambrose's work in NJPW, especially his match against Ishii showed that he was way past this type of CZW deathmatch shyt. This was their first legit match and they're trying to kill each other. The build-up should have been months in the making for you to expect that kind of shyt.

All of the piff you had in NJPW and then you go and do this garbage ass shyt.

4/10 legit


Both guys are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too good of wrestlers to have this match. This shyt is Janela/Havoc territory because that's the only way for them to get over.

Hell, all Omega had to do was tell Moxley to wrestle him like he did Ishii, and for Omega to wrestle Moxley like he did Ibushi at the G1 when they were trying to kill each other. You don't need weapons to give off that vibe of "these guys really hate each other"

But you doing your thing on your job then @DaylitoJames come out of no where and attacks you publicly, beats your ass badly, then drag you off to some high platform and toss you about 10 feet off onto the ground.

Then the next time he sees you out while you working, he attacks you. Fight you to another location and face plant/drop you into a glass table.

You telling you still don’t hate him? And would want to shoot a fair one after he came at you on some super foul underhanded shyt?

The lore doesn't lend itself to being a franchise well. Everything was wrapped up in 2. They keep remixing the same plot 3 decades later.

We’d still be talking about and remembering this show based off the Cody/Jericho match and be talking about the MJF turn and where that’s going.
