Up to the main event right now and I'm been pretty entertained throughout. Totally forgot Sammy Guevara was in Reality of Wrestling. Dude was an absolute babyface noob so I'm glad he has really developed his insufferable personality. I know on what I think was the second episode, Jericho called him a "teen heartthrob" and I'm thinking "wow, he's 19??" then I look him up and he's 26

Guevara is that deal.
I was sure he was older than his look. So I found it funny you listed his age.
I really gave him a chance and anyone from the indies a second chance with no bias in this aew launch.
Him, janella, Darby and the anxious awaiting swerve of Cody by his bff.
Are really going to be a watch.

Aew doing what impact would do after fukk'n it up for weeks.
Without fukk'n it up and making the product into can not wait to see what happens next.
I may actually buy a ppv and I ain't bought ppv since mania iii.

1) My original post was in the NXT thread but you quoted it and wrote your response in the AEW thread and you're assuming bias on my end? hmm

2) Be wary of overhyping Bianca Belair while bigging up Darby Allen, brehs

1) I know, I saw it.... and thought it was kinda wild to take that “unnecessary” shot there where it was gonna die with no real discussion.

2) Darby went from a genuine nobody that no one knew about or even cared for till like 3 high profile matches later in AEW becoming a made man and a talent people are starting to get behind. I specifically last night saw surprisingly a lot of people wearing his face paint and disappointed he wasn’t there.

Again AEW only been around effectively A MONTH.

Not 60+ years like WWE
Not 7+ years like NXT
Not 17+ years like TNA and ROH

And if we wanna keep it really BUCK.

As much as I think Bianca is dope and should be a big star. At the end of the day she is a black female wrestler in the WWE, her ceiling is some where between Naomi and Alicia Fox (and we see how they do them).

In the long run, Darby without the E will be bigger than her..... whether in AEW or not. That’s the sad fukked up reality as WWE history has shown us COUNTLESS times.

There’s enough diehard fans that’ll spend money on AEW to survive for years. There’s no mainstream audience so I don’t see why you’re hung up on that. TNA similarly chased after fans that didn’t spend money and we saw that outcome. Everyone that would possibly be interested in wrestling tuned in to see Rock last month and tuned back out. I believe in 2019-20, you have to cater to diehard fans to the point where they’ll spread the word to their friends, and get certain acts viral. That’s how you grow audience now. Not giving tens of millions to yesterday’s stars in mma & boxing.

This isn't just in wrestling, it's media in general.

In 2019 everything is available to everyone at anytime. Trying to be pop is a death sentence. Find your audience, cater to your audience, do what you do better than everyone else and grow "organically"

People who have mastered marketing are just catching up.

There's a reason Tech 9 is rich and no one knows who the fukk he is.

okay so casual, every day viewers DO NOT matter? it's only wrestling fans on forums who watch the shows who matter? no reason to worry about the mainstream audience?

Niche programming has to develop fans that spend money on them. TNA drew 1.1 million on spike to watch impact then drew 100 fans to shows and less than 10,000 on ppv while paying Hogan Sting Flair, etc. That’s more ‘star power’ for the casuals than WWE AEW or anyone else today.

Whoever is doing these AEW video packages finna fukk around and give this show a whole background plotline, end up have me caring more about the pre-tapes than the show itself.

So... basically, whoever is doing these needs to be careful, before they fukk around and LU themselves into being better off as a TV show by having as little wrestling as possible. Cause you can't come back from that, lol.

That being said, if Full Gear was an hour of video packages like Brandi's and especially Jericho's, and 45 minutes of in-ring promos, good as Cody's or terrible to the point of Kalisto... I think I'd actually care more about it than I do just about anything outside of the top 3 matches.

I will say this though. Cody's promo hammered it home for me - this whole thing is Dusty as fukk. Talk them into the building, end the night with a brawl so people want to know where it goes... some character building time, a fukk-finish. Man, Cody had to be absorbing a whole lot more than most people thought, even as a kid, to have this so apparent.

all the way back in that awful orton lead stable.
where all the inning work and vignettes were all made because of cody.
if you go back and watch him in the triforce boots.
he shows he had it then, and you can tell he was being shackled as early as rhen. Not to mention, the awdu doom era. Which was a main event champion heel potential wise. Yet it was the bullshyt wwe. So there ya go.

Cody's entire persona still feels like he's pretending to be a wrestler. Like an actor, not a wrestler, which is why that promo didn't do much for me. I can always see the seams and tricks with Cody. Everything he does and says feels too calculated. Also I feel like he and Brandi both go to the same acting coach because they cut exactly the same promos.
