DC had a very high homicide rate during the late 80’s and 90s. There were over 400 murders in 91 and my mom knew many people who were killed around that time period.

Black America doesn’t need a billboard to call attention to an issue we are all more than aware of. This only helps to bolsters white supremacist deflection from addressing the root cause of those homicide rates, which is the systemic oppression of black people and the economic apartheid we have suffered under since this nation’s founding.

Again you're missing my point, I'm not saying that there wasn't way too many murders, one is way too many what I'm saying was looking back on it It wasn't as bad as they made it seem again they were throwing around terms like GENOCIDE and I run into nikkas who were from DC in the crack era all the time. I used to run into people from Michigan now I run into former DC residents all the time.
According to what I was told then there should be far fewer of us.

I know many people who were killed around that time period. shyt I know people that died in Iraq, just because I knew people who died doesn't mean in aggregate that it was that many people. I remember when I was in Iraq I heard about a dude I knew getting killed in DC and I thought Damn I'm safer over here than I would be there. Dude was killed at the old Club U. Then around the same time period a chick that I didn't know but was from DC and a former Underground stripper died in Iraq in vehicle accident under suspicious circumstances.
I will say this the same organization in DC thought the murders were so bad that they took drastic measures. They stopped the Simple City vs Eastgate beef by literally bribing people to stop beefing. They hooked up the main hittas with cushy jobs.
There were rumors that they sweetened the pot by getting to cops to drop investigations of dudes if they stopped fighting. It worked.

All I’m going to say is that there was a protest last summer here against the police when the police here are decent and don’t really fukk with people .

All this happening in a year where people were trying to get funding diverted from the laws. Try to make a case for that with spiking violence. Stop explaining the violence stop trying to understand it. There's no justification.

Or the police can simply do their jobs. Dudes avoid committing crimes in white neighborhoods because the cops would be on them and actually Investigate crimes. In the hood someone shoots someone, the cops canvass the area no one saw anything and they say Welp the people won't tell us Meanwhile if they really wanted you they'd hang wiretaps like christmas trees.
I remember a case of a dude who was robbing Asian massage parlors. The Massage parlors were somewhat reluctant to talk (because they were engaging in crime themselves) Anyway since they couldn't get a court order to wiretap his house they planted one on the street in a lampost. They caught dude on his way to another job.
Back in the day everyone knew the local hittas, The fact that they seemed to "get away with it" made people shook and willing to Make their own justice
It's the same reason why we can't have real gun legislation who's giving up their guns when there's so many guns out there? I know I'm not.
If that dude was dealt with by the community there wouldn't be a problem. I'm not even talking about violence, Someone knows who he is, he should be oustrasized.
