This was my 2nd "where were you" moment in my life, 1st was 9/11. I was in 10th grade when Katrina happened, we had a lot of kids and teachers from NO come to Atlanta. Katrina is what really ignited the Saints/Falcons rivalry. But being able to see and hear all the stories in real time was surreal, people that look like me, left for dead. Damn near 20 years later reading and hearing stories is still shocking as hell

A good listen, this was recorded in 2005 a couple weeks after

The first national tragedy I remember as a kid. Was too young to remember 9/11 but I vividly remember the images of people wading thru floodwater and the survivors at the Superdome

Neighbor across the street was in the army national guard and got deployed to NOLA for a few weeks. Remember him telling me about all the bloated, decaying bodies in the streets. Stray dogs and seagulls were eating at them :sadcam:

Move out of New Orleans 7 years prior to Katrina

My elementary school was destroyed

I lived in a two story house and the entire first floor was flooded from the floor to the ceiling

My entire family relocated to the 'Sip

I remember this video/song and my mom getting her hair braided by a lady named Katrina around that time.

I was too young to be up on news like that, but I knew it was terrible thing. I didn't know about the racism part til I got older tho. Except Kanye saying GB doesn't like Black people.
