Remember when you would skip school and the prerecording would call your house to let them know you was absent. You had to make sure you answer the phone before your parents then erase the school number off the caller id.

Us GenX latchkey kids had something akin to this coming up. Funny to think about it now that our parents really wouldn't have known if anything had happened to us until we just never showed up at home from school or playing outside. No cellphones at all or anything to be tracking us like that, except folks in the neighborhood who would've seen us around.

I look at my kids sometimes and want to let them get the same little taste of independence I had as a kid, too...and then I remember this is Atlanta, a trafficking hub, and just dead that thought again.

I can respect that one thing I learned though you can’t shelter them soo much to the point where as soon as you not around they doing whatever. From my experience kids going to do exactly what we did some more some less. I look at my kid sometime and I wanna get mad but I think to myself she only doing what you did.

YEA TIMES ARE DIFFERENT.

WE USED TO WALK A MILE TO SCHOOL
EVERYDAY...

YET WHEN MY BOYS TURN 10
IM NEVER GOING TO LET THEM

OUT OF MY SIGHT WHEN
THEYRE OUTSIDE.

THE WORLD IS JUST
TOO EVIL NOWADAYS AND
KIDS ARENT OFF LIMITS ANYMORE.
PPL LITERALLY SHOOT UP ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Kids are also less aware than your generation because they all have cell phones and are constantly scrolling whereas your head. Was up and constantly scanning.

My son is 13 6 ft and 179. I didn’t even trust him to cross the street independently until he was 12. Dude had no awareness.
