This 4 QB situation has really hamstrung them. I just can't see them putting 4 QBs on the 53 man roster. Makes no sense. We're gonna lose a useful player if we do

I actually think now that if Petty plays well Geno is the one on the chopping block.
I dont think there's any indication of that happening(yet)

Which would be dumb since Fitz is on the wrong side of 30. I'd hope they'd at least trade breh.

Petty is garbage.
I look at it this way:
- They can't keep 4 QB on the roster
- Despite talking up Geno, the FO's actions have all been anti-Geno since they've gotten here(give the job to Fitz, draft a QB rd 4 last year, draft a QB rd 2 this year)
- Geno's a FA at the end of this year. He's not gonna be back and both sides know it.
If Bowles feels comfortable with Petty I think Geno is gonna be the one gone(whether by trade or cuts)
Unless Petty starts getting preseason reps ahead of him I don't see him being released. It was nice to see Petty looking at least capable last night though. I thought Geno looked like he normally does.
So let's say Fitzpatrick does become the starter. You really want petty for the rest of the season?

Geno was not drafted by this GM. Geno has no future here. The FO has made it clear they do not view Geno as a long term solution at the QB position by drafting TWO QBs the last two years(1 with a very high draft pick). Petty is their guy that McCagnan picked.
The only reason Geno's still on the team is he knows the system and is cheap. If the Jets feel that Petty wouldn't be a total embarrassment if Fitz were to go down I think Geno gets dealt, possibly cut.

Unless they can figure out a way to IR Hackenberg I agree with you. Petty surprisingly looked better last night. There's no way they can carry 4 QB's. Let Geno and Petty get the lions share of the reps over the next 3 games and make a decision I guess. There are too many young talented wide outs to carry 4 Qb's. Esepcially with Decker and Marshall getting older...need to start building that pipeline.
