Pro's and Cons from preseason game 1 as I see 'em:
Pros:
. From the offensive starters, I liked Powell's and Enunwa's work. Assuming Forte can stay healthy and split carries, Powell looks like he can have impact play and hopefully won't breakdown. Enunwa seems like the most likely to take advantage of the top two WR's demanding attention. On defense, didn't see much of a lot of guys. Lee was fun to watch because he just gets after it and doesn't quit.
. Young QB's are progressing. Geno started shaky, but once he calmed down he did a pretty nice job. Dude throws a great ball and didn't force things under pressure which is a really big step for him. Petty started strong but as pressure mounted he made a couple of bad decisions, but he really showed huge progression from last season when he was god awful. Seeing the growth in those two makes me even more liable to question that Hack selection.
. WR depth is looking strong. Marshall prolly takes the lead on KR and a bunch of our young WR's made nice plays. Peake is the most exciting prospect off that first game to me, just had a knack for getting open and holding on. But the key will be consistency for these guys, the ones who keep making plays will separate...for now, it's just good that a handful of competing WR's have a chance to make it two in a row next game.
. Special Teams showed some nice signs on punts and returns.
Cons:
. Milliner got bodied against a number one WR, which should probably be expected but was disappointing after the practice/TC hype. Hopefully it was nerves, I'm willing to be patient (we sorta have to be) but it's tough to imagine that this guy was drafted to replace Revis these days. Marcus Williams didn't do much to placate my worries either. Revis, Skrine...and a big gaping hole from there
. Second unit defense and third as well were piling up missed tackles. They had a couple of blooper reel moments, running into each other while a WR or RB got 10 extra yards.
. Run defense looked shaky imo at all levels. Could be cognitive bias because I know Big Snacks is gone. But it looked like we were ceding ground at the first level on a lot of runs, felt like too many gaps for the RB's to exploit.
. That Folk kicking competition pretty much ended after some overhype for the young cat.
