Honestly, Wilder looked out of it before the fight even started. His body was going through the motions but he seemed like he was totally somewhere else mentally in that 1st round. Doesn't take away from the heart he displayed but it's like he knew he was about to hold that L.

He was excellent in the first round going tonthe body. If he kept that up the whole fight he would have won.

How do you put on extra weight and then your gameplan is lunging, loaded up jabs and backing out of clinches :gucci:

Extra weight probably helped him take more of those punches though :ld:

In the first fight, Wilder went the full 12 rounds and knocked Fury out cold when he was 212 pounds :snoop:

Adding weight made it worse

Wilder did as good as he possibly could
Everyone who isn't delusional and saw their first two fights knew Fury was a much more skilled boxer. Even then, I think it's possible he was up after 6 rounds in this fight.
His legs were completely dead in the second half of the fight though and he got his ass beat from that point on.
Really not any more complicated than he lost to a better fighter for what should have been the 3rd straight time.

Damn, he 35? He might need to start considering retirement. Dude took a beating in 2 straight fights. I understand having pride, but a few more fights like that and his brain is jello.

HW fighters have much more longevity than other divisions. He should be fine fighting a few more years.
Really nobody else in the division will put a beating on him like that outside of Fury and maybe Usyk and he's never fighting Fury again so he should be good to go

Deontay had a strategy of going to the body to set up the head and abandoned it after 2 rounds. Never faked the right hook at all. No set up for the hook aside from the single jab. Only one uppercut while they were clinched up.

He absolutely showed a ton of heart, but he also took an unnecessary beating that could have been mitigated by incorporating some basic boxing combinations, set ups, and feints. Idk if he continues fighting after this, but I don't see him reaching the summit again until he addresses his technical skills.

His offense isn't the problem

It's his footwork. He's flat footed too much and circling, athletic ability lacks. Fury beats him with athleticism and positioning. It's rather easy for him as long as he doesn't get caught

That's right. That Cac is more athletic than the brotha :francis:

Wilder throws no uppercuts or body punches in the clinch. :francis:

Great fight and I'm ready to see Fury v Joshua/Usyk II winner
Yeah. He did once or twice (I believe it was end of the 6th or 7th) and the clinch uppercut had Fury in some trouble and then the bell rang.

Wilder did everything he could.

Salute that man.

Fight was won in the clinches.

Wilder reminded me of them EA Fight Night games. He was just throwin haymakers out there. He need a real trainer to be rebuild him.
Fukk Malik Scott. His performance was embarrassing. He had over a year.
