Mr. Leonidas

thats just too general a statement for something like that and for particularly people aren't or weren't sold on shakur before this fight...we all watched shakur's last fight...yes it was a very dominating performance defensively but for the type of opponent it was AND for the skill level perceived that wasn't it..clearly obviously you know that..we had the same criticism...it was good shakur was able to turn it around quickly and learned from his mistakes
but inconsistency works both ways...with the mention of "anti intellectualism" in that case there should have been more fans giving wilder the business for fighting the way he does and eventually getting knocked around by fury rather than ppl going wilder has a one hitter quitter
Yea I feel it's alot of the posters on here who make these fights about race. Its a narrative pushed quite literally on this site. Floyd wasn't hated on cuz he was black. He was hated on cuz he avoided fighters in their prime, cherrypicked and offered little excitement in his fights once he hit 147. The boxing community wants fighters who have physical gifts and advantages to use them in an entertaining way to get their opponent out of here. See the great RJJ. Everybody loved him because he wasnt content just coasting to a 12 round decision against an unmatched opponent- he'd try to get you out of there if it was clear you didn't belong in the ring with him. However Floyd was always content to coast to wide UDs against guys like Tata Baldomir, Berto, Guerrero etc instead of using his superior hand, foot speed to get them out of there. It inherently comes down to risk for Floyd and even when the risk factor was at its smallest he was still scared to up the tempo. Juxtapose that with Loma and you see him using his advantages and gifts to be more offensive then he has to be. Shakur received criticism from Bradley for the same reason- you're clearly superior to your opponent but not fighting like it. The great Lennox Lewis always said we don't get paid for overtime and fought that way. However yesterday Shakur turned a corner in that he listened to the criticism, took more risks and used his gifts to deliver an exciting performance.
Wilder was always trash, basura and poubelle. Literally the heavyweight version of Andre Berto but his handlers knew well enough to keep him away from the type of Victor Ortiz opponent for as long as they could to continue to milk the sport for all the money they could get from him.
