the money is always in the babyface chasin the heel
You make that heel by beating the fukk out of Darby for the belt. Say Lashley shows up and destroys Darby "feel good" title reign. THAT'S a heel that merits a chase that can draw money. Not Jon fukking Moxley for the 4th time having the main title :mjlol:

darby goin over a heel (take your pick if you hate moxley) is better than him retiring danielson

Disagree. There are babyface vs babyface matches that can elevate people and that was one of them. Danielson has made a career out of making people and elevating them, he would've done the same for Darby in a way Mox can't. And Darby chasing a heel ain't gonna be turning business around anyways so we are basically arguing where he'd get the bigger reaction and my money is on a classic match with Dragon in Seattle over any match Darby could have against a heel.

They’re actually building a story here, for the main belt. Darby/BD woulda been fine, but where does Darby go from there with storylines and feuds? They JUST started to build his rise in the title picture.

I don’t get the complaining. You guys want storylines that last and you’re getting it here. Darby’s chase is only gonna elevate him even more. This is gonna be close to the Yes Movement but actually done with that in mind instead of forcing it due to fan outrage.

The underdog babyface vs the unstoppable a$$hole heel who “retired” a GOAT. Bruh, this is the whole point of it. :bryan:

Who else is strong enough to give Darby a credible feud for the title? They’re building Mox as the big baddie and Darby as the underdog. This story been done over and over and a formula that always works.
To me, you don't need Darby chasing like that. You have him win the belt in a legit memorable match and then you use him as the stepping stone for next big heel (and that's the chase worth building towards to).

Using Danielson as the stepping stone for another Moxley run as the big heel ain't it :manny:

I feel pretty similar as to when the Bucks did their authority heel turn early in the year and I was arguing with people how no matter how "let's wait and see" the angle could seem, it was not worth the effort they were giving it to.

I know what the point of the angle is breh, and I'm telling you I don't believe is gonna hit like that and I'm not gonna be watching it :manny:

There's tons of angles and stories that seem worth a shot on paper and some of them you just have the feeling they aren't gonna work. Adam Cole and MJF were a formulaic angle as well and we all saw the failure it was going to be after what happened post All In 2023.

Cole/MJF failed because Cole got injured. Darby is a fan favorite and him chasing the title is going to have the fans starve for him to win.

The last 3 champs were faces. Maybe Joe was a tweener, but fans fukked with him. Mox is actually a heel here.

Cole/MJF was going to be The Devil bullshyt we saw regardless of him getting injured. No one was gonna be craving MJF chasing a heel Adam Cole with his buddies :heh:

Hope you are right and Darby is made like that, but I ain't tuning in to see if I'm gonna be proven wrong as I have no interest in the story they will try to tell nor do I have any faith in TK pulling it off as a weekly story.

Because Bryan had the whole retirement thing going to put somebody over big time and they used it on bum ass Jon Moxley?
He’s not retiring, he’s just not wrestling full time. That’s been pointed out throughout this whole journey. :dahell:

MJF/Cole struck gold with that friendship angle, something that surprised all of us and is easily praised as one of the top things AEW did that year. You’re telling me their breakup wouldn’t have had people interested in the storyline? :skip:

Yup. AEW fans wanted to see those two remain friends and see their fukkery. I do not believe they would've been very engaged with a heel Adam Cole + Roddy/Bennet/Taven after week 3 or 4 of that angle. First couple of shows? sure, but I firmly believe it would've faded away pretty early. I see a similar scenario for this Mox stuff. He's gonna get booed like crazy throughout October, but eventually it will lose steam.
