Thurman might up his stamina for next time though and against Pac he wouldn't be in reverse all night like against a Josesito like brawler but still comparing their last performances I gotta favor Pac now, as strange as this sounds in 2019 and as unlike as I thought this would be 2 years ago.
The Thurman we knew might be gone but it really might have been just his ring rust, we'll see.

Would be a damn shame if he really did waste his prime taking that 22 month layoff. Based off beating Porter and Garcia I had to have him as the number one guy but the 2nd half of the fight I have my doubts. A step up against a 6-10 guy should be his plan. Reactionary and just based off last night, there’s a good chance ..Manny would outwork him and could hurt him bad, Spence probably stops him and I’d give Porter the edge . I think a Thurman at his best could be any of those guys but he may need another fight to fully shake off that ring rust

What was troubling that aside of the knockdown and the following seconds it didn't seem like he could discourage or seriously hurt Lopez. A better version of Lopez was KOd by Maidana and Canelo who are both big punchers in the divisions they were in that time but they put him down in 6. What's more is Lopez was finished by an over the hill Berto too in 6... :francis:

Mayweather rarely fought like that at the lower divisions sans against Corrales and Castillo. Usually his speed and power was was overwhelming he was able to come forward and fight in the pocket. He wasnt running around the ring against Genaro, Augustus, Ndou, Gatti ect.

Thurman almost got stopped by a guy who hadnt stopped anyone not even the bums he was fighting in 4 years.

Thurman looked pale and skinny too.

You mean Mayweather stuck and moved as he fought higher level opposition who could take him out with their power, and really started to fight defensively sound against higher level opposition?

You don't say. lol

thurman wasn't almost stopped, he was hurt, but he didn't even get knocked down. On top of that he hasn't fought for 2 years, it was to be expected, hence way he and others were saying he needed a tuneup. lol.

Lopez was saved by the bell in the 2nd rd imo:manny:, Thurman's power may have fizzled later in the fight (as it has in the past) but I belive he was protecting his hand as well, he was doing a mix of soft punches with an occasional hard shot thrown in quite a bit. It may have been strategy to set Lopez up but I read some interview where he said the hand will never be 100% again, just close enough with monitoring.:manny:

So if Manny cant get the Mayweather rematch..that's now 3 GUYS that want to face him. Thurman...Mikey said he would definitely want that Manny fight if he wins...and Spence retweeted Manny's interview two weeks ago about fighting the winner of Spence/Garcia.

Like I said elsewhere..people have to calm down. You can't expect Thurman to come back like Floyd did from his layoff and put on a masterful performance against Marquez. Floyd's training is a different level compared to everyone else. That's where he does all the real work. The fight is just following his game plan.

Thurman looked alright but he'll definitely look better next time. No doubt about it.

If they fight, and Manny hits him with something he doesn't like (which he would because it's Manny), I believe Thurman would go into a shell.
No. He's not that mentally weak and he WILL PROTECT that undefeated streak...he'll fight for it. He definitely will throw hands to end those rounds strong.

He shelled up against Garcia.

Actually , both guys shelled up, and Thurman came away with a boring win.

Thurman is definitely not above shelling up, as I’ve seen him do it.
