Did he explain the backstory with Kota calling Tana "God"? His whole thing for the final was being able to "surpass God", Ibushi is insane :pachaha: I'm glad Charlton got this gig, he knows his shyt.

I believe he did explain. Charlton is official though. First heard of him through John Pollock and Wai Ting back when he was doing all the LAW Japan updates. He just dropped a book about the history of the Tokyo Dome.

Ibushi went back to the Wrestling Institute on Monday morning like :mjcry:ready to train even harder for the rematch.

Kota probably working on a Phoenix Splash that ends with his knees on his opponent's throat or some shyt :damn: :whoa:

Yeah, once Stuart dropped Strong Style Spirit (puroresufan), Charlton became the go-to guy for english speaking puro stuff.

Strigga knows more shyt and is a walking encyclopedia but breh is german.

Exactly, that why Charlton said that. I'm asking if he had time to explain that on commentary, I listen to the japanese feed.

That was the explanation, that Ibushi was so impressed with Tanahashi that he left his life to become a wrestler and thinks that Tanahashi is, literally, a deity.

I lol'd on the final night when Kevin Kelly basically apologized for how lame A Block was, and then apologized for Naito's booking :mjlol:

"It's not like the guys in the A Block didn't try..." :mjlol:

"Don't worry, he'll get there. Eventually." :russ:

That was hilarious..... I caught that too....

Truth be told though..... and maybe cuz this is so new for me...... but I didn’t think the A Block was bad......

I liked the Jay White matches and Okada was straight to me.

Like before this..... I had no idea who JW was other than “he was the dude that beat KO for the US belt”

But all the shyt with him, Sho and Yoh was hilarious.

I'd fukk with Omega and Tanahashi as the main event. I don't think they can go back to Tanahashi/Okada, their match this weekend didn't draw well, it was not close to a sell out like the other two events were. They've run it back too many times now.
One reason for that is that there was a huge festival in Tokyo that just happened to fall on the same day as that match. Even wrestling fans went to it over going to Budokan.

I don't think this is a pipe dream as much as we think. D Bry is a weirdo hippie im sure he has made more than enough money. I'm sure he sees guys like Okada, Omega, SANADA, Zack Sabre and sees a lot of dope shyt creatively him popping up in NJ wouldn't surprise me at all :manny:
He’s spoken before about wanting to do exactly what Jericho ended up doing, show up as the foreign guy and fight the Bullet Club until Jericho did it himself. He’s probably not motivated by money anymore so I could see it happening for sure, I’m just trying not to get my hopes up.

it wasn't.

its just that B-Block was a goat level experience.

Reigns comparison makes no sense for anyone in New Japan, that I totally agree with.

But Cena and Tanahashi fits better than most other comps because they are both big stars that reignited their promotions when they were on the downswing. Granted, WWE was never even in the vicinity of the hole that New Japan was in in the mid 00's, but Cena's reign did draw a fukk ton of money for a long ass time, more than anyone not named Hogan, Austin and Rock. Tanahashi never was able to reach to heights of a Inoki, Choshu, Fujinami, Mutoh or Hashimoto but he was clearly above anyone else of his generation and the one that preceded him, just like Cena.

I think you are downplaying how much money Cena made and how big of a star he became. He got A LOT of hate online but the boos on TV and PPV did not translate in people going less to shows, on the contrary, he was the last person to make any difference in a company that did everything in their power to make all their wrestlers NOT make any difference. He didn't "save" WWE like Tana did NJPW, but he was their last big real star.

cena was getting booed out of buildings as a face breh. he didn't draw anything but kiddie merchandise. he was just the guy that was made to be the face of an already established promotion, whose fans refused to give a fair look at the competitors.

im a consumer broham. just because I bought a ticket or ordered a ppv to a show that he just-so-happened to be main eventing in, it doesn't mean that I paid to see his ass. this isn't boxing breh.
hell, they had three shows back then. john cena was only on one of them.

and cena isn't some huge star. people who don't watch wrestling, don't know him.
