Hypothethical question, brought on by @Bryan Danielson 's observation about wrestlers and black tights.

With all thats going on storywise in New Japan....

What would Shibata be up to right now? :mjcry:

Considering the absolute hit his title challenge was, who knows. When you take into account how Naito has been handled, it's a complete tossup to speculate what Shibata would be doing. I think his Sumo Hall sellout would've warranted him at least an IC title run though.

I'm genuinely not putting it past him to walk out on the final day again this year and announce his return. :wow: :lupe:

Oh he's for sure coming back, and he'll probably do the headbutt again the first big match back. If Takayama ever regains movement, I'm sure he'll be in some shady ass indie somewhere at 72.

Yea.... currently LU is my clear cut fav but I'm liking this 2nd and actually enjoying it and not watching out of habit ala WWE.

Damn so there are more tournaments other than this?:gladbron: Tell me more:noah:

dawg NJPW is fukking great.

You don't even have to know what the storyline is.

There doesn't even have to be a storyline.

Faces and Heels don't matter because the crowd likes who they like, but faces will face and heels will heel no matter what (except bytch ass ultrafaceTanahashi, he'll heel like 80's hulk hogan and the crowd will still cheer)

You can mix and match any of the top stars and/or any of the "intercontinental" level stars in matches on any given night and get at least a 4.25 star match

You got this DEEP legendary back catalog full of classic matches. You discover a wrestler you like? There's a chance he got at least four 5 star matches you haven't seen.

I tell this to people but you don't get it unless you watch.... but the crowd is just like you. They're silent and watching, they pop when you pop like some weird telepathy. It pulls you into the action that much more. (Lucha Underground's crowds also do this. It's a very understated part of the experience)

Red Shoes on big matches.

Yes, @El Villano Ingobernable , I LOVE New Japan. Even me only watching the tournaments and PPVs, it's enough where I feel like I'm watching a weekly program. NOAH and Joshi keeps me entertained on the random match level.

WWE/(and roh to an extent) makes me :francis: as a fan

NXT makes me glad I never stopped watching (sometimes)

Lucha Underground makes me feel like I'm 9 years old on a saturday morning with a box of Capn Crunch and a half gallon of milk, watching wrestling with a musty sesame street housecoat on

NJPW makes me feel like that kid that grew up to still be a wrestling fan. :mjcry:

He definitely would have gotten a run with one of the "secondary" titles, maybe even would have won the New Japan Cup for the second year in a row too. Something to pad his resume while the Okada/Omega train was still running.

Yano vs Ishii deserves a nod too. Any match shorter than 10 minutes that can be as fun as that one should be seen :manny:
I don't usually pay attention to the Yano G1 matches but I could check this one out. :ehh:

Actually, Ishii/Yano was the MOTN to me with ZSJ/Ibushi a close second.

Honest Yano with Ishii, being the GOAT at what he does, makes it work perfectly.

I don't have the energy to watch SANADA/Goto even though people said it was a good match.
