The core fanbase wanted to see Cody win and have stuck with the story since the end of Wrestlemania 39. Now the rug is pulled from underneath for an undeserving part timer to have a shytty match with another past his expiration date part timer.
Cokeboy is gone, so I can't believe WWE will be stupid enough not to pivot to shoe horn Cody into the match after the reaction.

They are not a PPV business anymore boss, and none of those other things actually directly make them major money. Yeah he might get a few more TV spots but what does that really mean to the bottom line?
The company is doing bigger business than it ever has before. Including any era Rock was involved in. That’s an indisputable fact. Again, Rock needs this more than WWe does. He’s in image rehab since the DC fiasco. WWE meanwhile has a ton of fan goodwill built up.
I am not saying there is not a use for Rock btw. Book the match months out, for a major venue in Saudi or something, get their money for the show and sell expensive tickets on the strength of the match. That makes more sense then trying to shoehorn him last minute into a show that doesn’t need him at the expense of an already ready built match.

This would make it make even less sense since Cody is the one who earned the title shot while Shawn’s last title match ended in a no contest. There’s obviously no way Shawn’s signature on the contract would be valid (even though Austin told Triple H that it was later in the show right before announcing the triple threat
) but the idea of Shawn having unfinished business and having not been beaten in his last two shots at the belt gave him a lane to force his way into the match too.The ace steel/CM Punk segment before all out made little sense when AEW did it and it’ll make even less sense if they do it here.
