Still feels bizarre that they would have Cody use his royal rumble shot for a title he doesn't ACTUALLY want. He just said it. What was the point of burying the other title? and having Roman go out there and bury Seth and that title too?
Now it's like they'd have no choice but to do it. Maybe Rollins will come out and attack Cody now going heel, because they just basically buried him and his title all over tv in the main event of Smackdown

At the end of the day, this was the best business decision. Hate it for Cody but he will get his chance to get both titles next year.

It's like giving him the consolation prize of a double Rumble win like Stone Cold, HBK, Hulk Hogan was just that...so they could keep his fans happy and move him into another feud.

For the story it feels like a lame waste of a title shot though. Why on earth would you step aside and let the Rock face Roman? It's just not good writing.

So what happens at Elimination Chamber? I think they should at least put Gunther in the match with Cody & Rollins. Cody is a super babyface. Him beating returning, probably still banged up Rollins for a fourth time isn’t super/top babyface-like. Facing Rollins alone is too much of a layup. Cody face a believable threat/challenge to make his win hit harder.
