u guys didn't get the whole quote. she actually said no one knew about nina simone until she brought light to her with this movie
and those kids aren't biracial because Zoe isn't black. Her parents look barely black. Zoe claims black because due to her features black roles are 95% of the roles she can get. i frequently hear part black latino actors complaining how they don't qualify for latino roles because they look a bit black. she's basically using colorism to her advantage while talking greasy about the AA actresses whose opportunities she's stealing.
so if she's maybe 30-40% black & her husband is white then how are her kids half black?
i think u guys should realize that someone (especially from a different culture, different views of race etc) identifying as black isn't always a positive because they may be doing it for the wrong reasons (attention, uniqueness, diversity, financial gain) like adrianna lima. i've been reading she's black and to call her black for a decade. then i find out her parents look like this.
there's a bunch others. Rita ora said she loved being mistaken as part black for the benefits (jobs that black singers could be taking).
another is Vashtie, (i don't think she's malicious) but i do see her being fawned over for being black with silky hair when she posted on her own website that both her parents are indian. she said she'd 90% indian 6% black and that she's frequently mistaken for black. i'm sure she's worked hard, but it still sucks that there are time when she's given an opportunity meant for a black woman when she's not. i'm pretty sure i've seen her at black girls rock .
