Lol coli nikkas and their womanly responses full of assumptions. :pachaha:
My dude are you slow? Her fighting for Latino rights has absolutely nothing to do with her race. Latino is not a race. She can be Latino and still be black. Latino is a linguistic group.

This is a quote from her back in 2005.

When I go to the D.R., the press in Santo Domingo always asks, "¿Qué te consideras, dominicana o americana?" (What do you consider yourself, Dominican or American?) I don't understand it, and it's the same people asking the same question. So I say, time and time again, "Yo soy una mujer negra." ("I am a black woman.") [They go,] "Oh, no, tú eres trigueñita." ("Oh no, you are 'dark skinned'") I'm like, "No! Let's get it straight, yo soy una mujer negra." ("I am a black woman.")

any man arguing whether Zoe should have played Nina must be on some feminine shyt

because colorism really only affects women

I don’t remember anybody complaining about Chadwick playing Thurgood or Denzel playing Malcolm

I posted about the thurgood marshall one, because he specifically said once, that colorism from whites greatly affected his ability to suceed over other equally knowlegable black men during the 50s and 60s.If he looked like chadwick he might not have been elected to the supreme court.

Denzal i didn't have issue with because Malcolms legacy seems like it could be same regardless of his complexion.
but neither actor wore skin darkening makeup. Last King of Scotland would've been a better comparision.
Denzel actually had similar features to malcom x, just on the darker side.

Yeah I just realize in here that her family didn’t want Zoe to play the role
but as I said I still blame whomever in the family sold those rights to the movie company
Zoe shouldn’t be the one taken all the blame for that
But yet your blaming a Nigerian actress for playing Harriet Tubman under some pretext that her family owned slaves as if you know her family genealogy, what a clown:mjlol:

Good point. So you're saying that you're okay with other groups playing us as long as they're respectful?

If you remember, people were going at Africans playing us in general not just the ones that had lineage or disrespected us.

My thing is we gotta call out everybody. And I notice that some people give passes to certain groups. Like they'll be all up in threads criticizing black people (hell, they'll even criticize Black Americans), yet noticeably absent in or on defense in threads like these.

I just don't pick and choose.

well honestly speaking this is probably where we will disagree and i assume a few posters in here will read my reply and be disappointed

with that said it’s apples and oranges to compare Zoe Saldana to your typical UK or African Diaspora actress
Zoe was born in New Jersey and spent most of her life in New York City and little bit going back to the DR here in there ...
in her 20 plus year professional acting career she has played nothing more and nothing less than a typical Black American woman
I believe the only role she’s ever played as a Afro Latina was a movie, she was a spy/hit woman trying to get revenge for some cartel that apparently killed her parents when she was a child .... sorry I can’t remember the name of the movie but it was pretty good
This whole new hating on Spanish Caribbean people is something fairly new and it’s basically coming from people who don’t know these individuals
and for the record I am not trying to defend Zoe
but if you take one good look at her she comes off as your typical light brown skin Black female ... regardless of whatever one thinks
now, as far as the family not wanting Zoe to play the role of nina is kind of sketchy and I believe may be a bit over exaggerate it being the fact that Zoe happens to be one of the biggest female actresses in all of Hollywood but with that said if they didn’t want her and spoke to her she should’ve removed herself from the film
and let’s keep it real this particular movie wasn’t a deal breaker for her career

I see where you're coming from. I fukk with Latinos heavy. I don't even particularly care about Zoe Saldana.

Unlike a lot of dudes on here, I refuse to blame all Latinos, Africans, even Asians, for the actions of a few a$$holes.

All I'm saying is that I noticed some people like to pick and choose. They'll give the benefit of the doubt to Hispanics or some other group (sometimes even cacs) but will go after other black groups with all their might.

Because in the trash move the trash actress. They are planning a black American women they could’ve played that role 10 times better.
