@Wenzel Dashington
negged you for your post in the thread Zoe Saldana Getting Clowned For Trying To Play Nina Simone. With the following comment: Your going to die cracker
Wenzel Dashington is yet another example of how people with no intelligence have to result to petty name calling and racism when someone else has a difference of opinion....In this case he just proves his unintellegence because my face has been plastered all over this site numerous times.
A Yo... Wenzel.......
Rather that than a confused mongrel like you
Agreed.
If we gonna be honest with ourselves, is it really any different than Will playing the Nigerian Doctor in Concussion or buddy in The Pursuit Of Happiness?
Lightskin brehs and brehettes playing darker skins people is rediculous in itself to me. The fact they had to cake on makeup for Zoe to even play Nina says enough. It's be the same with a darker skin person playing a lighskin dude. You want my man Michael K Williams from the Wire playing Obama?
I get that she probably thought it was a good movie, script, etc and that Nina would be a good person to portray but if you gotta cake up with makeup to play her, maybe you should have let someone else do it.
ZOE SALDANA: “I AM A BLACK WOMAN”

As I was searching for inspirational style pictures on one of my favorite style sites ”Black and Killing it”http://blackandkillingit.com created by Neil Alvin. I came across a small debate that seemed to stir when Neil posted a comment from a reader about a quote that the beautiful, talented and well known actress of Star Trek, Avatar and most recently Colombiana, Zoe Saldana stated. The comment reads as follows:
“When I go to the D.R., the press in Santo Domingo always asks, “¿Qué te consideras, dominicana o americana?” (What do you consider yourself, Dominican or American?) I don’t understand it, and it’s the same people asking the same question. So I say, time and time again, “Yo soy una mujer negra.” (“I am a black woman.”) [They go,] “Oh, no, tú eres trigueñita.” (“Oh no, you are ‘dark skinned’”) I’m like, “No! Let’s get it straight, yo soy una mujer negra.” (“I am a black woman).”
Most of Neil’s readers felt there was no need for a debate and that it was this woman’s prerogative while a few others were a bit peeved that Zoe identified herself as a black woman and thought she should identify herself as mix. Why do you think Zoe’s comments irked some nerves?
Zoe Saldana: “I am a Black Woman”
He's right. Cacs like you have no say in who is black. Mongrels like Poitier don't either.
Don't want to identify as black, but take roles for black women brehettes.
I'm sayin
..... did you forget there's pics of you in the women of the coli thread?I'm lighter then Zoe and I sure as hell ain't mixed. We do come in different colours you know
I simply pointed out that RDJ did indeed play black face but it wasn't the same as the black face that folks did back in the c00n days
"Why didnt they get like Viola Davis or someone whose a vet in acting to be Nina Simone"
Because she's not a box office name? Zoe, despite not being the lead, has been in three box office smashes (Guardians of the Galaxy, Avatar and Star Trek). Yes, there's better actresses (I've literally heard every dark skinned actress you could think of in the past two days) that could've played the role but I'm doubtful any of them have a internationally known name like Zoe's.
Mary J Blige was originally offered the role before Zoe accepted, even though she said she wasn't right for the role. The director got her power taken away from her by the studio and is now in a lawsuit with them. ANNNND this is going to be in theatres and available on VOD on the same day, which means it isn't a wide release movie.
This is entire movie has been a disaster. Nina in theatres April 22nd.
