Fortunately Ohio State runs a clean program.
"Hey, but between me and you, he asked about some stuff," Code was heard saying. "
It's not "corruption" if they allow it. Put a cap on what the school can pay players but imo they should be free to get whatever endorsement money from whoever (or if they so wish they can have a list of reputable companies/businesses that have pre-approval in which the athletes can accept endorsements from). Ultimately the market will determine their value (word to Adam Smith's Invisible Hand). Also there's the concept of diminishing marginal utility. A player may very well choose to play for their hometown team or for a certain school for less money than elsewhere. It happens in pro sports all the time.
Negged
All schools could do it but most alums don't give a shyt about the athletes and some dont want to fukk with them outside of the sport alone. Duke specifically recruits a certain type of kids that fits that mold. If you notice, the kids that go to Duke usually went to prep school, great students, well rounded, and have other aspirations other than Basketball.
They have an alum base that looks at all Dukies the same to a degree. Meaning your degree isn't worth less than mines regardless of race. Duke is Duke. That's not how most treat their alums, it's usually very racial and clickish. But honestly, they get it because its Duke Basketball and they have just a lot more funds than everyone else. Of course nothing like UT or A&M but those schools don't give a shyt about their negros outside of maybe Vince
Yup. That's why I have absolutely no problems with the college athletes taking money. They generate millions of dollars for these schools and they throw it in their faces that they shouldn't get paid bc they're getting a free education A college scholarship is worth what $100k? If the schools paid that upfront how long would it take to recoup that money?...one commercial break on ESPN. Pay those kids what they're worth and stop the BSBama moved Tua Talajdsljalgua family to Bama and gave them jobs/housing. You can't be blatant and give cats cash, but getting boosters/alums/supporters to do shyt like that which isn't "technically" illegal is the way to go. "Company" housing, "Company" car, and a bullshyt job to funnel cash to your people thru in large amounts is how you get down.
shyt ain't gonna stop.
You're only worth what a mufukka is willing to pay you and obviously these cats are worth a shyt ton of money which is why this stuff goes on. B-B-B-But student athletes my ass.
B-B-But you gettin a free edumacation!!
fukk outta my face. these cats are making your school MILLIONS and that's why yall doing all this dirty shyt under the table to get them on your teams and campus.
If you want to get paid go to the BBB league. Don't try to soil the purity that is NCAA athletics
This is soo true
I remember when I was first exposed to it was back my freshman year of college.
My old HS varsity BB teammate ended up going to UNC for football. He was a year before me so he was a sophomore at the time.
But I remember he got up with me for my homecoming (GHOE) and buddy was pushing an LS400.... like BRAND NEW like “get in homey”
Then later at WSSU homecoming in our hometown buddy had a brand new 4Runner packed with bytches.
Now mind you in HS buddy had this shytty dirty grey Datsun or some shyt that he couldn’t roll the driver window down and was dented as fukk.
I had to pull him to the side like “niccas wtf is going on?”
And that’s when he told me some shyt about UNC and how they get down with the athletes.
I was like
That was the only time I was like “the fukk am I doing at a HBCU when white colleges doing it like that”
