You say "that's it" as if her father owning 5 Mcdonald's franchises doesn't play an extremely significant role in her success. Had the original story been about HIM, I doubt there would be much criticism. I'm proud of the sista, but she's basically continuing a family business that was created almost a decade ago. Nothing wrong with her benefiting from the fruits of her father's labor...white people do it all the time, but the average black person doesn't have that opportunity. Nothing wrong with pointing that out.

Black folks dont come from money.... someone in the family tree has to beat the system and avoid the traps.

That's why stories like this make me so happy to see.

No offense fam but that is the case for dang near everybody regardless of race. Someone had to beat the odds/system and avoid the traps and hopefully it continues with subsequent generations.

Shoot you can start with the video title. It's a personal shot at the girl like she is about to do an exposal. Yvette could had titled it the truth about the media portrayal of the youngest black franchisee but she didn't. Words matter and how you phrase things matter.. which is ironic cause thats supposedly a large part of Yvette's argument. She doesn't even realize she is doing the same thing.

But you can see personal shots starting around minute 13.

Here is a quote from the article referencing the personal awards Jade won that Yvette said doesn't matter:

She also received the Ray Kroc Award, which goes to the top 1 percent restaurant managers in the nation."

So Jade outperformed 99% of mcdonalds managers in the NATION at her young age. Jade appears to be EXCEPTIONAL at what she does. Since Yvette likes data lets use it. Jade is in the top 1% of managers in the nation. You cannot just dismiss that like Yvette does and say it doesn't matter. Her parents cannot hand that down to Jade. Jade accomplished that on her own. I'm sure there is not a lot of black women in that training program she did either. I guarantee some of those cacs didnt want her there either and made it extra hard for her. Anytime a black person succeeds you better believe they worked 2x as hard to get half as much credit as their white counterparts.

Her continuing a family business would have been taking over a family business. She was awarded her own franchise by Mcdonald's, not because McDonald's liked her....not because her family were owners/operators, and not just because her family had the cash....article says that she was the cream of the crop at a training institute for children of franchisees. She's a winner.

Most people here have family or know somebody who is in law enforcement....her father was a cop, but..because he was the cream of the crop.....he excelled, earned degrees(on the city's dime) and experience...all of which put him in position to get his first store. He's a winner.

I put up the trolling heading on top of the video of her parents' story for those talking that bu bu bu bu but rich parents plea.

I'd guess that her parents were self-made middle to upper management corporate types people before they got the first store.

It's a lot of details left out... you don't jump from 1 to 7 million dollar franchises in less than 10 years from a middle class background unless you've established some elite connections....
