:russ: No kidding, he was doing too much and even missed the highlight lob

what did you think of the game/rooks?

I'm pretty happy with 'em. Grimes didn't shoot well, but I liked his ability to get space for his quick release and expect the jumper to show up with more reps and less nerves. McBride really stood out for his work rate and I also expect his three-ball to fall in due time. Sims has more polish than I gave him credit for. The touch he flashed on the floater and the hook shot were exciting to see in a guy with such freak athleticism and size. His footwork was good too. I like the level of aggression these kids brought to every aspect of the game. They got after it on defense, moved well off the ball on offense, and they weren't afraid to shoot. I'd have liked to see McBride get more opportunities to create like IQ got; at least to try and get Quickley going since he was so off rhythm. But I also like that the Knicks really seemed to be focused on development over winning. These results don't matter, so letting IQ run the offense even with the blemishes could pay off in time. He's an intelligent dude and flashed some nice reads and dimes, I hope he can figure out the nuances once Kemba and Rose are around to help him figure stuff out.

This is how he looked in college. He is a skilled big and to his credit makes quick, smart decisions.

The competition was basically kids, and this is the highlights, but notice how him being stronger against them allowed him to get his spots and start to get in rhythm offensively. Conditioning was his issue last year. If his strength translates to the regular season he should have a very good year.

ytf did jericho sims drop so low .. breeh looks like he could play right now .. good IQ , a prescence inside .. nice touch , defensive prescence ,those hops?
From what I have read. He was a college senior who never got a lot of playing time most his college career because he played behind guys who would then get drafted. Mo Bamba, Jarret Allen, and Jaxon Hayes we’re all ahead of him in the depth charts when they were in Texas. So I could see scouts thinking he was inferior to them and two of them are not even that good. Him playing well his senior year could be a fluke because he is older than the majority of centers he is playing against.

Flipside, the Knicks prefer drafting upper classman, and from what we seen appreciate guys who develop in college. Sims, McBride, IQ, Obi, and Grimes are all guys who got better the longer they were in school. They really wanted Duarte too and he is that same type of prospect.

he was about to be undrafted before his measurables came in at the combine.
he had all this athleticism but really wasnt a force on defense like that. only got 1 block per game on tons of minutes his last season
plus he was in college for 4 years....so thats immediately a knock on a prospect.

Full recap will be up soon with some highlights and thoughts on everyone that rocked. Yall know how we do. I'll have the KFTV link with the goods.

It’s only one game, so i won’t overreact but iQ’s inability to create separation in summer league was a bit concerning.
He needs to learn how to utilize pick and rolls and create plays for wings. Jericho was an easy assist. I want to see him dish some good looks to Grimes.
