on one hand im happy to see ESPN not bury a guy like usual

at the same time - its not a mental health crisis or symptoms of trauma. if you act like a jackass and suddenly realize you're a jackass, that's just life. some guys get money and act a fool too. in this case it applies to him and his dad.

a lot of this shyt is so damned over the top.... every kid who fukks up shouldn't be thinking they need a weeks long wellness retreat across the country to get their shyt together. sometimes you just need a mirror and a commitment to yourself.
he could very well be addressing issues with alcohol/drugs. I mean, that’s likely what he is doing. I don’t like to speculate but many people have hinted at it and this is what it looks like when someone takes time to go into rehab. I doubt it’s as simple as some counseling for questionable situations he’s created

Ja should be applauded and be given support if he indeed is trying to treat some addiction issues. It seems like his team and organization have his back. He should also be afforded privacy to deal with this. Which is why it’s somewhat inappropriate for someone like Marcus Spears to say it without saying it, there is kinda an agreement you give people privacy to deal with matters like this

If he indeed is working on issues as mentioned, I hope he doesn’t feel rushed back for the playoffs in a month and if he does, he’s still able to stay focused on making the right decisions. It will be challenging while having the pressure to perform at the highest level on a national spotlight. It will be challenging balancing both things. It’s also a thing that people fail with over and over.

I hope the best for Ja, I’ve dealt with issues like this myself and have seen many others as well. It’s more trying than people imagine from the outside. Takes a lot of courage to do what he’s doing assuming he’s sincere in his actions.

Again, this is based on some assumptions but reading the tea leaves, this is very much what it looks like when someone steps away to focus on these issues. Prayers to Ja if he is indeed battling those demons

Did you miss where it said he texted her. How is it agenda based on her part, if Ja reached out.

Some of yall want the young breh to crash out so bad just to say "I told yall so".
She should keep her personal texts to herself. He already released a statement last week. Leave it at that.

Only thing weird is your response.

We have an incident where he fought a 17 year and a gun was allegedly involved.

We have a verbal altercation with personnel from the Pacers that led to a gun allegedly being involved.

We have an incident with Ja and 9 people going to a mall threatening people.

We have an incident where we saw an actual gun.

Now we're hearing about alcohol and substance abuse but he wasn't suspended for a DUI or a failed drug test. Making alcoholism the story and not his tough guy behavior is burying the lead.

His behavior needed to be addressed but wasn't and then he flashed the gun. With the league about to step in his handlers check him into rehab. Maybe he does need rehab but it's being used as a shield. We've seen this before. Get in trouble, go to rehab, and say you're seeking help. It's a PR tactic. Even Ben Simmons played the mental health card and media members had to handle him with kids gloves.

Bottom line is if Ja doesn't address his behavior and fix his circle nothing is going to change.
What do you want anyone not named Ja to do about this?

I had some dudes I went to college with who tried to play gangster starting fights everywhere they went. Told them to chill and they wouldn't listen. They tried the wrong people and one of them got pistol whipped. They were on their best behavior after that with no counseling. Knuckleheads just need to be taught a lesson. If the team had suspended him or got involved earlier this could've been avoided. The Pacers situation should have brought them to action.

Playing around with guns isn't light especially when you're worth 9 figures, have kids who look up to you, and are one of the faces of a billion dollar business. Not to mention that posturing can get you shot if someone tries to test your gangster or land you in jail if you do use it.
Let’s keep it a buck, kids need to look up to their parents.
