We have an incident where he fought a 17 year old and a gun was allegedly involved.
We have a verbal altercation with personnel from the Pacers that led to a gun allegedly being involved.
We have an incident with Ja and 9 people going to a mall threatening people.
We have an incident where we saw an actual gun.
Now we're hearing about alcohol and substance abuse but he wasn't suspended for a DUI or a failed drug test. Making alcoholism the story and not his tough guy behavior is burying the lead.
His behavior needed to be addressed but wasn't and then he flashed the gun. With the league about to step in his handlers check him into rehab. Maybe he does need rehab but it's being used as a shield. We've seen this before. Get in trouble, go to rehab, and say you're seeking help. It's a PR tactic. Even Ben Simmons played the mental health card and media members had to handle him with kids gloves.
Bottom line is if Ja doesn't address his behavior and fix his circle nothing is going to change.

at the same time - its not a mental health crisis or symptoms of trauma. if you act like a jackass and suddenly realize you're a jackass, that's just life. some guys get money and act a fool too. in this case it applies to him and his dad.
a lot of this shyt is so damned over the top.... every kid who fukks up shouldn't be thinking they need a weeks long wellness retreat across the country to get their shyt together. sometimes you just need a mirror and a commitment to yourself.

I had some dudes I went to college with who tried to play gangster starting fights everywhere they went. Told them to chill and they wouldn't listen. They tried the wrong people and one of them got pistol whipped. They were on their best behavior after that with no counseling. Knuckleheads just need to be taught a lesson. If the team had suspended him or got involved earlier this could've been avoided. The Pacers situation should have brought them to action.
Playing around with guns isn't light especially when you're worth 9 figures, have kids who look up to you, and are one of the faces of a billion dollar business. Not to mention that posturing can get you shot if someone tries to test your gangster or land you in jail if you do use it.
