SPIN:

For any book heads..
What King books have you read that you'd like to see turned into a movie (assuming they'd hit it out the park) and give a brief run down on the book/story

This is easy for me...Cell

The story follows a New England artist struggling to reunite with his young son after a mysterious signal broadcast over the global cell phone network turns the majority of his fellow humans into mindless vicious animals.

Also, 11/22/63

11/22/63 is a novel by Stephen King about a time traveler who attempts to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy which occurred on November 22, 1963 (the date of the novel's title).

...Although the novel contains science fiction and alternative history elements, the majority of it is historical fiction dealing with real-life events and people between 1958 and 1963. The novel is a departure for King since it required deep research to accurately portray the late 1950s and early 1960s.[8] King commented on the amount of research it required, saying "I've never tried to write anything like this before. It was really strange at first, like breaking in a new pair of shoes."[8]

Man, can only imagine what they could have really accomplished with a bigger budget. The special effects brought it down, the story was piff though.

:damn:

I wanted to be the first to say this. While the cheesy affects tried it's best to knock you off your immersion the story was great and the movie still maintained to creep you out.

I also wouldn't mind seeing that film get a remake.

I wish they would redo Tommyknockers. Could be a really dark and scary movie if done by the right people.

Real excited about them doing The Stand again too :ooh:

Ehh....The Tommyknockers (book) was horrible to me...

it would take some really convincing film making for me to like anything based on that material.

Langoliers was cool...but them CGI langoliers was some of the most awful effects I ever seen :lolbron:......:scusthov:

yep...I have read every King novel and all his short stories, except for the new Dark Tower book that just came out, and Tommyknockers is King's worst book by far IMO.

And 11/22/63 is the novel I want to see made into a movie more than any other...plus, I think its the most easily adapatable King novel to come out in quite a while.

The Mist.

I can't stand The Shining because Shelley Duvall literally turned in the worst acting job I've ever seen. That bytch is fukking horrible and it makes me angry thinking about it.

King has had his run with movies n shyt. Someone needs to start adapting Dean Koontz novels. Some of his sci-fi/horror shyt would be epic on the big screen or as a miniseries. I know they're making an Odd Thomas movie with that Anton Yelchin kid. Great fukking casting job, too. Decent casting for Stormy.

But his books like Velocity, Strangers, The Taking...would make excellent movies. Especially fukking Velocity, son. That shyt could be epic. Im a bit of a Koontz stan, but I think more of his books have film potential.

It's average....

Anybody watch that mini-series that TNT ran a few years ago called Nightmares and Dreamscapes where they did like 8 one hour episodes of a bunch of Stephen King short stories? I liked that a lot, and they had some decent actors doing that shyt too.
They did:
Umney's Last Case - starring William H Macy
You Know They've Got A Hell of a Band - with Stephen Weber
Battleground - with William Hurt
The End of the Whole Mess - Ron Livingstone
The Fifth Quarter - Jeremy Sisto
The Road Virus Heads North
Autopsy Room Four
Crouch End

'Misery', 'It', 'Salems Lot', there's more, but there have been a lot of really bad Stephen King movie adaptations. 'Tommy Knockers'? 'Langoliers'? 'Rose Red'? I think 'Storm of the Century' was alright too, but I haven't seen it in years. One of the worst has to be....that one where the dude is hunting rats or something in an old building lol, terrible.

"The Night Flier', I watched that when I was in 8th grade or so, VHS rental, my two friends fell asleep, and I stayed up alone watching that crazy shyt. I wouldn't classify it as a great movie though, I'm pretty sure that was one of those stories King wrote when he was coked out of mind, because that shyt was all over the place. A vampire driving a Cessna around airports massacring people, a sleep deprived reporter following him, who is losing his mind too? Just the vampire in a plane is straight coke talk to me.
