btw was 'gimmie the loot' the first (maybe even only time?) when a rapper acted as two different ppl on a track?

slick rick , 2pac (soulja's story + sequels) , Redman ?

As for R2D , Biggies mic presence ,flow and sense of rhythm were incredible ,the whole LP was full of bangers.

loved the beats on this especially Easy mo bee's, his drums were INSANE ,one of the only NY producers to come close to the beatminerz drums imo

nikkas are really runnin out of ideas for threads

I dont see you coming up with anything creative. Stick to trolling mediocre nikkas like 2 Chainz and whomever the flavor of the month and leave the thread for cats to discuss how great of a album RTD was

:whew:

:krs:

:mindblown:

shyt had me dazed. A lot of the beats were next-level from what a lot of people had at the time ("Things Done Changed", "Warning")... Biggie was killin' it lyrically... Only songs I don't recall liking the first time I heard it were "Big Poppa" and "Respect". Or should I say those were the only ones I thought were just "aiiiight". But good got-damn... from the intro to the end, I was stuck on it. Up until then, the album I listened to most in '94 was Illmatic... but when RTD came out, that was pretty much the soundtrack for the fall and following winter. Played that shyt every morning on the way to school, at night when I was home... took me a hot minute to stop listenin' to that album regularly.

Suicidal Thoughts literally gave me the chills... When he started off with

"When I die, fukk it I wanna go to Hell, Because Im a piece of shyt and its hard to fukkin tell"

I was like :ohmy::whew:

Gimmie the Loot was so raw that Puff literally had to censor elements of it. My other favorite song was Respect. That reggae vibe to it was dope!

It was like reading a classic novel for the 1st time. I listened to every single minute of that album and realized I had found greatness. It hit me in a place no other hip-hop album had. I felt I was walking in Biggie's shoes and understood his internal struggle.

When I heard The What though, I was like :mindblown:

But Suicidal Thoughts had me like :wow:

I was a huge Wu fan back then so The What was my fav song for the longest.

Nah... Slick Rick started that... on more than a few songs.

Redman also did it on "Redman Meets Reggie Noble".
I think biggie might have been the first to do 2 different voices like that tho, slick rick especially used to just spit and wouldn't really change his voice much when he changed characters. BIG did it so drastic cats were tryIng to find out who the other MC was

True...

"Gimme the Loot" definitely was the first joint where some people seriously didn't know the other dude was him. :steviej:

Every verse is a different character. Dope and creative song in it's own right too
