i think that's part of the point the show trying to make. In reality he's not a bad kid. He's the only one trying to do the right thing, he feels guilty about both hitting the kid and Kofi's outcome. He's trying to see and treat Kofi as a person while everyone else just sees him as a problem that needs to go away.
I think where he pisses people off is that he's a recipient of white privilege whether he likes it or not. He is protected just because of where he's from, his last name, his skin color (just like the Baxter son in jail). And I think that infuriates half the people cause he's getting away with the crime and cover up and I think he infuriates the other half of people cause he's routinely about to fukk up the cover up.

Just my 2 cents :ld:
He told his teacher girlfriend what happened when she did not need to know. Then he walking around threatening to tell. He moving stupid.

Also, Clay Davis, that cop, and Desire has some connection.

If he pleads guilty, the story goes away.
If he fights in court, then the connection between the Desire Crew, Clay Davis, and Judge Bryan Cranston is in danger of getting revealed.

I'm getting the impression that this probably isn't the first time the Judge used his connections to Clay Davis to indirectly get stuff done through the Desire Crew. Its not that he's "breaking bad"...its that he has been corrupt on some level the whole time but the show hid it from the audience and is slowly revealing it a little at a time.
This what I was thinking :jbhmm:

The son is so hard to like I think it messes up the show since everything that’s going on is to protect him.

Honestly, it's part of what makes the show so intriguing. He annoys me too but then I'm like "am I annoyed because he has a conscience and is actually trying to do the right thing rather than just going along with what his dad is doing?"

And as a father, I get the Dad side of it of trying to protect his kid. But I've learned you can't want something more for your kid, more than they want it. And then the whole Kofi situation threw a whole new set of issues to the forefront...

So far it's a great show.
