hard to say really. in terms of what I've watched the most in my life/consider to be my favorites

Terminator 1/2
The Matrix (1)
Blade Runner
2001
Empire Strikes Back
Gladiator
Alien/Aliens
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Children of Men
Minority Report
Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut
Casino Royale

these are the movies that just come to mind off top. I know it's a lot of sci-fi but those are the kinds of movies I end up watching the most. There are other movies that I consider to be up there in the discussion but that I've only seen 2-3 times.

I noted my favorite a couple weeks ago (The Silence of the Lambs) but the remaining in the top 10 would be:

2. Goodfellas
3. Carlito's Way
4. Shawshank Redemption
5. A Bronx Tale
6. The Godfather
7. Zodiac
8. Paid in Full
9. The Usual Suspects
10. 12 Angry Men

Honourable mentions: There Will Be Blood, Menace II Society, The Prestige

Honestly, a lot of these movies need to be rewatched just cause some might not even deserve to be on the list, higher, lower, etc.

Plus theres always more movies to see. I tend to be lazier than back in the day with movies. I be searching on Netflix for the longest time when I already have like 10 on my list and end up watching a Fresh Prince episode lol

I've never understood the appeal of Gladiator, it's a good movie sure but some people seem to really love it

My bar for a great movie is simple, if I think a movie is great I watch it muted, if it's still good muted it truly is a great film. 12 Angry Men and The Dark Knight, I've seen them dozens of times focusing on new things like editing, acting and stuff like that.

Movies I love are Star Wars, Rear Window, Back To The Future, The Shining, Lion King, Aladdin, Toy Story 3, Reservoir Dogs, To Kill a Mockingbird (good book, better movie), Die Hard, Up, The Bridge On The River Kwai, In The Heat of The Night and Noi the Albino.

Glad to see The Sting and Quiz Show get a mention

:comeon:

It's an engaging and emotionally charged epic tale of redemption set during one of the most fascinating times in human history, stars a lead man with tremendous aura and screen presence, is beautifully shot, is beautifully scored, and features glorious action.

-Fan-fukking-tastic Acting
-Incredible motherfukking battle scenes
-Great Score
-Great Direction
-Great Cinematography
-Emotionally engaging, dude had his whole family killed
-Joaquin plays one of the most despicable characters in film to date

Everytime this movie comes on I HAVE to watch it to the end, even if its 2AM and I have to work in the morning.

It's a great movie, but I thought Spartacus was much better (saw both in the theater in back-to-back weeks a couple months ago) :yeshrug:

Just had an idea and it will call for a lot of work if that's what we decide to do but is anyone interested in a Film Room top 100 films of all time list? Empire has one, other sites have one and other news outlets and we're as smart as them:troll: right? So why shouldn't we have our own official list?

Good idea. You should make a thread to lay down the rules : how many movies per lists, how to count the points...

I don't get how people don't get why other people think this movie is great:why:
