You don't know beer until you start drinking IPA's. I got into beer heavy about 10 years ago and I've had just about every style from multiple countries. DIPA's are the best. Imperial stouts are #2. Everything else I might mess with occasionally but I never been big on lagers or pilsners.
Ain't nothing wrong with an IPA on a hot day if you're having 1-2 but that shyt be heavy as fukk and 900 calories, just a lot sometimes to drink a bunch. They generally taste better too unless hella hoppy
